Should we be concerned that Democrats are showing more enthusiasm in these primaries? Was it like this in 2000 and 2004?
They have more dead people than we do/s/.
November won’t be close. McCain won’t satisfy the repub base, meaning no turnout in November. Hillary wins on a landslide and has her ‘mandate’ to ram chairman Mao down our throats.
What have Republicans got to be enthused about?
The Republican coalition is broken, the base is disinterested. Why would this be surprising?
yes
Hillary is a biPolarizing figure that get her hater & lovers out to vote.
Theirs will be without question the most insanely Marxist ticket in the history of the Republic.
President Hillary is not going to happen.
Maybe, then again the same thing happened in 1988.
If 400,000 in Missouri were ready to vote for Hillary and only 200,000 for McCain, do you see any way that changes in November?
Taking into consideration all the hatred of Bush, I believe this is a great motivating factor in their turnout. They are so close now they can taste it.
Yeah, let's worry about smoke damage while the house is fully engulfed in fire.
I will say that the mad dash for all of the drug addicts, hippies, and high school kids to caucus for B. Hussein Obama tonight here in Boise was nauseating and discouraging all at the same time...
Yeah, Idaho is starting to reap the rewards of the influx of the Californians and other liberal imports.
Go look in the archives.. 2004 was filled with stories about Dim turnout and enthusiasm, how now incumbent trailing in January ever won, blah blah.
Lots of rats came out to vote because there was a real race between Obama and Clinton.
Come November the same people that voted in 2004 and supported the GOP will be there again with a lot more urgency:
One interesting fact about Missouri is its status as a bellwether of national politics.
Missouri has a longer stretch of supporting the winning presidential candidate than any other state, having voted with the nation in every election since 1904 with the exception of Adlai Stevenson in 1956.
In 2004, George W. Bush won the state's 11 electoral votes by a margin of 7 percentage points with 53.3 percent of the vote.
Missouri has a very notable urban-rural split, as Democrat John Kerry only won three of the state's 115 counties: St. Louis County, Ste. Genevieve, and Jackson County (which contains most of Kansas City).-wiki

Democrats were enthusiastic about crossing over in the primaries in 2000 to vote for McCain as well.
They can’t be counted on crossing the aisle in the general election, however.
They want to win by any means necessary.
Dems always “poll” well early, when the MSM can more easily manipulate the polls.
Republicans inevitably improve in the polls as the season grinds on.
Stick to the issues - do not atttack candidates personally. If we stick to the issues, Conservatism eventually wins.
I just can't see it. The turnout for the rats is staggering. McCain just simply won't turn out the vote. I see a 45% to 30% win for the rat in November.
OK it’s a bet. The Dems are going to win by the largest landslide in history. On the bright side I have better than 4 years until I have to worry about who gets my vote for President.
Let's face it, the Obama/Clinton race is far more exciting than the Huckabee/McPain/Romney tilt. In fact, I would not be surprised if many Republican leaning Independents crossed over to cast a vote against the Clintons (my wife was one of them).
However, I think that Americans will turn out in force in November to vote against either Obama or the Clintons (I'm thinking it will be Obama). I'm just hoping it's not McPain that is the GOP nominee.
I, for one, have not lost hope that McPain will not be our nominee.
A. They came so close in ‘00 they almost got away with grand larceny in full view of the country;
B. Came close again in ‘04, but Ohio was more transparent than FLA;
C. They been out of power for eight years and left in shame then;
What would be a surprise would be if they WEREN’T energized on a double dose of black beauties.
30 million illegals with false ID’s all over? Wouldn’t be surprised if a third of them are getting to vote for their handouts to continue.
These are the things landslides are typically made from. So buckle up, if you think the primaries are rough, wait until you see the general. And if you think the elections are rough, wait until you see the governing. And if you think the governing and policies are going to be rough, wait until you see what foreign powers are going to do while it plays out.
And everyone, please take a realism pill and cowboy the frack up...
Relax... the RATS have their own perfect storm brewing. When the Evil Witch get nominated due to Super Delegate trickery, a huge number of Obama supporters will be pissed and not vote. Plus Hilterly will set the all time record for negative turnout against her.
Can the Dems still blow this? It is possible. But it is not at all likely. I don't need to "relax", but people around here, more than anywhere else on the political spectrum, need a giant dose of humility and realism.
The arrogance on display over the last two months has been simply astounding. Get over it, and the "happy think" that everyone already agrees with us and we are destined to win everything just by standing here. They don't and we aren't.
I don't see him accepting since he will have completely screwed over his message and betrayed his supporters by joining up with the "same old Washington types" strictly for power.
There aren't enough Americans left who see that as a bad thing.
“McCain wont satisfy the repub base”
I hate to be the one to say it, especially as a certified member of the base, but the republican base is now a minority of a minority and is shrinking every year. The respective primary turnouts, McCain’s success and Limbaugh’s impotence make this entirely evident. Rallying the base simply isn’t going to amount to much. The votes are in the middle and on the center-right.
I've noticed that as well. There seems to be quite a detachment from reality on this forum. Free Republic is no longer representative of mainstream Republicans. It used to be. It isn't anymore. Last night made that perfectly clear.
The best I can hope for is that the Democrats can govern well because they're going to have the reigns for the next few years and I'd never wish for bad stewardship on this nation from either party.
