La Raza moves national convention from Kansas City to Chicago

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- The nation's largest Hispanic advocacy group on Thursday announced plans to hold its 2009 national convention in Chicago.

The National Council of La Raza voted Oct. 20 to pull the conference from Kansas City because a woman on the Kansas City Parks and Recreation Board was also a member the anti-illegal immigrant Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. The member, Frances Semler, resigned from the parks board last month.

La Raza believes the Minuteman organization is hostile to Hispanics. The group is known for its citizen patrols on the Mexican border and for picketing construction sites where it thinks illegal immigrants are working.

Minuteman officials say the group abides by the law and opposes illegal immigration.

La Raza said in a written statement that it selected Chicago for the conference, which is scheduled for July 25-28, "to ensure that the event remained in the Midwest." Chicago has hosted the annual conference three times.

The 2009 convention, expected to draw about 20,000 participants, was expected to bring to Kansas City an estimated $5 million to $7 million in revenue.

Why do these idiots have a national convention here? Shouldn’t they have one in Mexico?

Oh, I forgot; they would be arrested or shot in Mexico.

This is the conference where McCazatlan was the featured guest speaker and how he went on about how he was going to screw the American public with his shamnesty bill. Fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me. McAzatlan is a freaking liberal - to all the fools who think that he wont stab conservatives in the back look at his record.

I was going to ask why an foreign financed and aided organization dedicated to the dismantling of this nation is allowed to darken our soil, but then there is already precedence with The DNC, the GOP and CAIR.

Are they going to hold it in that church that has become a magnet for illegals?

Take your convention and hold it in Mexico City.

Now this group of Mexican seperatists is telling us who can serve on our City governments. And the Democrats kiss their asses.

La Raza believes the Minuteman organization is hostile to Hispanics.

No, if La Raza were honest, La Raza would admit that the Minutemen organization is hostile to La Raza (and illegals, of course), and most Americans, if told for what La Raza stands, would be hostile to La Raza as well.
