John McCain made “dismissive remarks” about the conservative loyalty of Supreme Court Justice Sam Alito per Bob Novak and John Fund per Jed Babbin on HumanEvents.com.
Will McCain then in reality appoint conservative Supreme Court justices? In two years, over half of the present justices will be over 70. It could be that McCain will have four or five nominations in his pocket. To what political slant will those nominations commit?
Can conservative Republicans trust McCain to appoint those like Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito? Will McCain appoint only justices with strict constructionist positions? Will he war against foes to see that conservatives sit on the bench, particularly if confronted with a Democrat-controlled Senate?
What about the Iraq surge? McCain says he is remaining committed to the surge, claiming it is working. Some review the situation as the surge closing out. By 2008 spring, surge troop power will phase out due to strength waning.
What will McCain do then? Conservatives await his strategy. Those pro-staying put in Iraq until victory is realized want to know.
What about America’s evangelicals? McCain has rattled their cages per Focus on the Family founder’s Dr. James Dobson.
Dobson underlined that he cannot endorse McCain because the latter “did not support a Constitutional amendment to protect the institution of marriage.
“’MCain voted for embryonic stem-cell research to kill nascent human beings.
“’McCain opposed tax cuts that ended the marriage penalty.
“’McCain has little regard for freedom of speech.
“’McCain organized the Gang of 14 to preserve filibusters in judicial hearings.
“’McCain has a legendary temper and often uses foul and obscene language.
“’I am convinced Sen. McCain is not a conservative, and in fact, has gone out of his way to stick his thumb in the eyes of those who are. He has sounded at times more like a member of the other party.
“’McCain actually considered leaving the GOP caucus in 2001, and approached John Kerry about being Kerry’s running mate in 2004.’”
Further, can McCain resist wearing two garbs—one Republican and the other Democrat? Will he quit playing both sides and become an honest-to-God conservative Republican? His history says otherwise.
Because of this, many conservatives claim they are going to sit out the vote in November. They will not compromise their convictions because of McCain having a history of opportunistically compromising his.
About immigration, McCain claims he’s aware that border security is prime. However, on another day he tells media that he’s not quite sure of its primacy. He’s blurred in his responses.
Conservatives immediately pick up on his hesitancy for those insisting on secure borders don’t waffle.
McCain must put his name on law that rejects citizenship for illegals already housing here—up to 20 million of them. McCain must repeat that commitment over and over again for any conservatives to believe him on that issue as well as all others.
So when McCain requests conservatives to calm down about his “liberalism,” there are many reasons for conservatives to scream at the top of their lungs.
Not to worry, our next president will be Osama... uh...Obama
Last time I looked, conservatives ADORE Roberts and Scalia. Yet somehow we are worried about McCain picking up to 6 Scalias/Roberts, but we are not worrying about Hilary or Obama picking 6 young Ruth Bader Ginzburgs?
This is all getting idiotic. I heard McCain today, I voted against him but he now has my full support.
I’ve been thinking about this Supreme Court thing and I think it is a red herring. We have four conservatives, four liberals and one moderate.
Of the conservatives, Roberts and Alito aren’t leaving anytime soon and neither is Scalia or Thomas. The moderate is Kennedy and I don’t know of any health reasons why he should retire.
So, really, at worst I see the conservative side losing only one justice if a Democrat is elected and it is possible we won’t lose any at all if they are as stubborn about staying on as the liberals were while Bush was president.
Now, I’m sure people are thinking “If McCain is president, he can replace a liberal with a conservative”. Not so fast. If, say, a Ginsberg or Stevens retired, there will be enormous pressure from the Left to give them a leftist justice to replace the one they just lost. They know the balance of Supreme Court power rests in the balance. So Captain Bipartisan is going to offer them a liberal nomination (maybe not even Republican) to prove he is fair-minded etc.
Bottom line, Supreme Court justices should not sway your decision on whether to support McCain. If a liberal quits, he’ll just replace him/her with another liberal. And if a Democrat were president, the Democrat would do the same thing - only probably with a more extreme liberal.
Im out McAmnesty. I am voting for Obama to mess up the witch in the primary. Then in the fall ,I will not vote for McAmnesty. You can take that “calm down” crap to the illegals ruining my country.

I’m disappointed that George Allen is now supporting McCain.
Next week, it will be the same for me. Going back to the independent fold.
McCain has till November to prove to me that he is a conservative.

I have watched what looked like a raw deal get rubbed bloody every rude scrape of the way.
I have watched as the MSM, including FOX, has progressively pushed the most conservative candidates one by one off the podium, cut them out of the shot, and dumped them on the cutting room floor in a manufacturing of political 'nonpersons' which would have made Stalin ecstatic.
And, once again I have watched as we conservatives have been told to sit down and shut up and vote for so-and-so or it will be a vote for Hillary.
I'm mad as Hell.
I won't be calm, and I will not forget.
We have been ripped off.
McCain can do nothing to earn my Trust. Nothing. And neither can NRO or any despicable sell out source that claims I should back this man.
Any source that tries to talk me into doing so I will repudiate, slam the phone down, stop hitting the website of, stop receiving mail from and anything I have to do to block them out. I will not be talked down, I want mccain’s defeat more then any Democrat’s. He’s cause more damage then any Democrat.
McCain/Soros - The Reason Republicans Lost

“The Republicans lost because they were too conservative.” “No, not conservative enough.” “They lost because they disappointed the Religious Right.” “No, because they are too tied to the Religious Right.”
I’ll tell you why they lost: McCain/Soros.
Ever since the passage of McCain/Feingold, money has poured into organizations such as Move on.org demonizing Republicans, painting a portrait of them as the incarnation of evil. The ads have had as their goal one thing: leaving a sour taste in the mouth of the electorate over anything Republican, conservative or religious. It has worked. The soft Republican, like Chaffe, went down with the tough Republican, like Santorum.
These ads, paid for by George Soros, Peter Lewis and other multi-millionaire Leftists are the direct result of, and have been made possible by, the passage of McCain/ Feingold which opened the door to unlimited spending by left wing fat cats in behalf of liberal candidates and causes. Until its passage, contributions were, basically, limited to the political parties and candidates themselves, but with a cap. Until the passage of McCain/Feingold, a cap was placed on how much Soros could underwrite in his lust for power and influence.
Johnny McCain has made it possible for George Soros and other billionaire transnationalists to effect and determine the outcome of our elections and thus U.S. destiny, indeed world destiny. And that is exactly what the wealthy internationalists have always craved.
Certainly, McCain was aware that if the most liberal member of the Senate, Russ Feingold, was pushing a piece of legislation its purpose was not to help conservative causes but the far left ones that are Feingold’s life’s mission. Indeed, Feingold had a hard time finding a sponsor across the aisle willing to proffer the “bipartisan” aura he needed to gain passage for this liberal dream.
Feingold understood, as we now all do, the Achilles’ heel of Johnny McCain. To wit: I am the “cleaner” and wiser Republican. I stand out from the pack. “Take the dirty money out of politics” became McCain’s slogan. He did, and now we have the “clean” money of George Soros and Peter Lewis, so clean that it can be spread around, infinitely, for every left wing cause. It was noble, a Campaign Finance “Reform”, so befitting of Mr. Noble.
The President did not veto it. We didn’t fight it, assured that it would be overturned by the Courts as “limiting free speech.” But, it wasn’t overturned. Everyone passed the buck hoping that the next link in the process would stop it.
Democrats since Bill Clinton do one thing: they campaign everyday as if it is the day preceding an election. They demonize Republicans, our motives. The message they telegraph is not so much about our policy but our “sinister” goals. It is Halliburton, profiteering from war, mean-spiritedness, dogmatism over compassion. It is 24/7/365.
The purpose of the ads is not to illuminate their political positions. It is to destroy the Republican candidate and officeholder, the persona of the conservative.Through osmosis — after a five year daily barrage of ads on radio, TV and in newspapers — it appears to have worked.
Republicans, on the other hand, don’t begin serious campaigning until the month before the election and have never learned the Goebbels technique so familiar, and comfortable, to Democrats :demonize the person, demonize the group. Do so everyday, until respectable people find it offensive to be associated with, let alone vote for, such terrible people. The Moslems are doing it against Israel, against Jews, and they are indeed swaying Europe, prevailing.
The paid- for-by-Soros ads contributed mightily to the Republican defeat. Having won the House and Senate, Democrats can save some money by no longer having to pay for as many ads since they will use their committee positions to demonize and destroy conservatives through Democrat witch hunts under chairmen who have a Torquemada/Inquisition-like intent toward those they are “investigating”. Instead of paid ads, the mainstream media will for free, as news, nightly furnish Americans the audios and visuals from the congressional hearings — the images — that will make anyone associated with the Republican party look like a thief, greedy, a conspirator -— Al Capone.
Companies that contributed too much to Republican candidates will be hauled in and scrutinized under a series of bogus charges. The public will love it, for the 527/Democrats have spent the last few years laying the demonization groundwork regarding companies such as Exxon, Phillip Morris, Merck, Diebold, Halliburton, Walmart: big oil, big tobbaco, big pharma, giant retailers, etc. If “smart”, these companies will mend their ways and learn their lesson regarding who should be the major beneficiary of their contributions. After all, inquisitors simply want and always accept repentance.
So thank you Johnny for your tireless efforts in behalf of McCain/Soros, clean money and motives, and “reform”.You have helped bring your party down. Thanks for being the gang leader of the Gang of 14 which stood in the way of up-or-down confirmation of conservative justices. Hats off to you for redefining torture so that effective interrogation of jihadists is forever impossible. As a reward, you wish, now, to lead the party and become its Presidential nominee and standard bearer. I don’t think so.
Scalia is 71, C Thomas is 59, Breyer is 69, Stevens is 87, ginsburg is 74 (and in bad health) Kennedy is 71, Breyer is 68.
Stevens, Ginsburg, Scalia, and Kennedy all could be up for replacement.
If we can replace just one of the liberals with a Conservative, the balance of the court would firmly tip in our favor.
Who do you suppose Hillary or Osama would appoint?
He could change my mind in a few minutes. He could break down crying while repudiating CFR for the unConstitutional trash it is and say “I’m sorry for authoring the most unAmerican piece of legislation in the nation’s history.”
A free country, and a new litmus test...

Forget it. I wouldn’t trust Ted Kennedy’s best buddy to give me anything other than a Ruth Bader Ginsberg.
I know who they would support. And I know who mccain woud support. We’re screwed either way.
