I am usually good at looking things up right away but we are having the worst lightening storm in ages and I just carried some of my large houseplants outside to get some rainwater. Do them good, lol.

LOLOL, you were really serious about that, posted it twice. Poor plants, you are giving up on them....
Get a “Mother In Law’s Tongue”, gets tall pointed leaves edged in yellow, elegant looking and is hardy.

Yes, Snake plant. They can look very nice sitting on the floor in a large ceramic container. But they are slow growing.

I recall my older brother would hunt them down out in the native brush and cut the roots off and send them to some outfit that paid him for them

Don’t think I’ve ever read anything about the ‘snake plant’ but imagine the Indians had a use for it. Not like the Aloe Vera plant.
