I'd say this is a good sign. I'm a BIG fan of Bolton.

It looks like the word has gone forth.

Consolidate and rally around McCain.Now. The “powers that be” must feel that the Dems will go all the way to a brokered convention, and settling now for McCain dramatically increases our chances of winning in November.

Bolton is a one issue guy. That explains his position.

Bolton’s a good man, and he’s returning a favor.

Also, Bolton’s out of a job, and would like a chance to get back to work. Heavens help us, if McCain ever won the election—which is exceedingly unlikely—then at least we’d be better off to have Bolton working for him.

If we as Americans allow the sacrifice of our soldiers in Iraq to be wasted by the election of Clinton/Obama this fall, we shall be damned to the last generation. It won’t just be the end of the GOP, but also the end of the conservative movement and we’ll richly deserve it.

I hear a lot of happy talk here about how Clinton/Obama won’t ACTUALLY surrender Iraq, there’s a technical name for this in political science, it’s called Bull SH#$.

The establishment has chosen their poster boy. This is just a bandwagon endorsement from an out of work ambassador.

I don’t care who endorses McCain. The GOP insiders, Rinos and independents disenfranchised us through a rigged primary and I will continue to oppose McCain until the GOP leaders promise to fix the primary system so that it never happens again.

I am waiting for the posts that declare that bolton is a liberal in conservative clothing; that he was speaking like a conservative, but was really a shill for Mccain, and all the other things that some FReepers have been saying about FDT.

There is ONE issue that will keep me from voting against John McCain, and that is terrorism. It's frustrating as hell for me, because I disagree with him on so many issues that make up the foundation of conservative principles.

He has spit in the face on conservatives over the past 7 years regarding taxes, global warming, Donald Rumsfeld, Gitmo, Freedom of Speech, illegal immigration, etc. The fact that his major legislative accomplishments have been partnered with Feingold and Kennedy burns me up inside.

However, even with his leftist ideas on the WOT, such as closing down Gitmo, allowing terrorists to have OJ Simpson-like trials, and punishing terrorists with "time-out" rather than waterboarding, he does realize the fact that we must continue fighting these islamic extremists. He does realize that all hell will break lose in the Middle East if we pull out of Iraq. These are two realizations that his two democratic candidates do not realize, thus putting this country in grave danger if they are elected.

We cannot afford to have Hillary Clinton or B. Hussein Obama control of our military. If we pull out of Iraq, as they have both said they will immediately do when becoming president, there will be a power struggle like none has ever seen before in Iraq. Iran will make a move, thus attempting to establish itself as the hegemon of the area. As a result, we are likely to see the end of the House of Saud, brought down by the Wahhabis, turning Saudi Arabia into Al Qaeda.

Bin Laden and company know that the establishment of the caliphate will only start after the House of Saud falls after it stops its dependence on the United States for economic reasons. If we pull out of Iraq, leaving a guaranteed power-struggle, the House of Saud will be faced with threats from Iran and the Wahhabis. Saudi cannot defend itself from Iran, and surely cannot withstand a threat from the Wahhabis at the same time.

The result? Absolute chaos, with Israel adding to the mix. This will happen if we pull out of Iraq right now. That will happen if Hillary or Obama are elected....unless they are lying right now.

That alone is the reason I will be forced to vote for McCain, who I do not believe is worthy of the office previously occupied by George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Ronald Reagan.

I think that this is the final litmus test...Olsen...now Bolton...the mantle has passed to McCain...

However, if he chooses Huckabee as his VP, I'm voting for the DEM, whoever he is, instead of Huckabee. For me, Huckabee is the living, egotistical, everything-that-Jesus-isn't end of the line.

Admiral James Bond Stockdale, Medal of Honor, senior POW at the Hanoi Hilton, whom I hold in the highest esteem, has said that John McCain behaved with complete honor while under his command.

This is enough for me.

The illegal “immigrant” problem must be addressed. My belief is that McCain would do a better job on this than would Obama, Clinton, or Romney, for that matter.

Any politician must be circumspect when discussing this issue. Look what happened to Buchanan - the propaganda organs just unloaded on him. Look what has happened to George W. Bush. Remember the propaganda circus the media made of Katrina. Remember the evening news propaganda drumbeat about Iraq leading up to the 2006 elections.

Bolton is a great reference. Would McCain swear to re-appoint him as UN Ambassador -- or better -- as Secretary of State?

For what we have heard McCain has promised to do is send the bloody-handed James Baker to the Mid-east to run the show there. THAT would be very bad.
