Changes coming to 'Fox News Watch'...Eric Burns Dropped
Inside Cable News ^ | 2/7/08

Posted on 02/10/2008 4:05:14 PM PST by Dr. Scarpetta

FNC has not renewed their contributor agreement with Fox News Watch host Eric Burns, which is set to expire later this spring.

The program will remain focused on media criticism but will be revamped with a new host and more of an eye on the evolving new media.

Fox News Watch handily beats CNN’s Reliable Sources…proving that Fox is not afraid to tweak even successful programming.

Watching that panel discussing the issues is like watching paint dry.

FNC is becoming to MSM. Can’t handle the allstars anymore. I can’t watch their daytime stuff, 2 at the desk and other popping in every second with new details.... yuck.

if true, this is too bad. It is about the only show on Fox that isn’t dominated by a bunch of low cleavage showing News Bimbos.CNN is actually looking more substantive than either Fox or MSNBC to me.

I stopped watching Fox over a year ago... Except for Britt Hume, I could not care less. I detest O'reilly... and Hannity and xxxxxx, just boaring...

I do like Lou Dobbs and Glenn beck in cnn... but again, let's not be naive... Cnn wants to raise their ratings that's all.

Lou Dobbs is something!... He says many of the things I always wondered why the MSM did not critize or said anything about it. He gives hell to all parties equally, as it should be. We know the Gop is not that different from the Rats really, at least in WDC.

The purpose wasn’t to discuss the issues so much as to discuss the media on the issues. I think Burns did a decent job.

I liked Fox News Watch, I liked Eric Burns as well, his book “Infamous Scribblers” is a primer on how media operates, even back in the Foundational Period.

I think Fox is tacking towards a younger audience, and I also think they are becoming a bit worse for the switch, this new show will be some heavily breasted news woman with some story about “Blog X” and the number of hits and yadda yadda..

Burns and Cal Thomas were at least pros and adults.

I hardly ever watch anymore; because they are all the same.

The one thing I have noticed they all have in common and that’s no loyalty to the American people.

“That show is a dud. They should do something else with the time”

It wouldn’t be if their choices for the “conservative side” weren’t so inept at debate. Jim Pinkerton is terrible and although I like Cal Thomas he gets bulldozed by Gabler.

Get Coulter, Levin ,Ingraham, or Malkin on to take on the two lefty twits and you bet I’d watch.

you're probably right about that. honestly, i don't mind people being attractive, but they go overboard with the huge white...teeth, bleached blonde hair, and shiny lip gloss. gets on my nerves. at least brit hume brings some gravitas to the channel.

I’m getting tired of Fox. FNC needs drastic changes in personnel, guests, formats. I find I’m changing channels more and more often to CNN, Headline News, MSNBC and others and sifting out the bias find them more interesting. Even Bill O is becoming a big bore.

The only channel that has my loyalty is Animal Channel.

I hope they dropped him because they got Bernard Goldberg in the wings to replace him. It would be hard to find anyone more qualified than him. But my cyncism concerning Fox News leads me to believe they will get someone not even as qualified as Burns who is better looking than he is. A lot of Fox hires in the last four or five years have been about cosmetics as if they are using talking heads as eye candy to decorate the sets with.

Gabler is why I stopped watching it. Nobody, and I mean nobody, is that stupid and holds down a real job.

Either way, the show is getting axed. I don’t think Burns did a decent job, but I must admit he should think about retaining a lawyer and suing that panel for non-support. I suppose it’s probably true that the old curmudeon himself, H.L.Mencken, would have had a difficult go at it with that particular panel.

I always thought of the letter channels as MSM and very left leaning. But, lately, Foxnews has gone decidedly to the left joining their brethren.

That said, Foxnews, with Brit and Hanitty, at least has some conservatives left.

I like Eric Burns and thought he did a good job with what he had to work with on FNW. Neil is the one I could not stand! His BDS was so severe that he managed to turn every comment into a criticism of Bush, even if the subject was completely unrelated. When Jim Pinkerton “jumped ship” to work on a presidential campaign, I guess FOX figured it was just as good a time as any to revamp the show.

This may sound strange, but I also think Fox is putting Conservatives and even Traditional Moderates to sleep.

CNN, M(isery)NBC, are running wall to wall political coverage, and really ginning up the Dhimmis, switch over to Fox and we get:

Man turns pond scum into BioDiesel.

Fox is almost totally disengaged from the elections, IMO that is by design.

Coulter, Levin ,Ingraham, or Malkin

Great names.

Here's my idea.

Put these people in O'Reilly's time slot, one each day and one day for BO (He has the same "stinky" initials as Barak Obama.)

If he complains send him to MSNBC or CNN (When I happen to be watching the O'Reilly Factor, I always think, Hay I need to turn my TV to FOX. LOL) and put Melanie Morgan in the other slot.

Then it could be called the No Spin Zone, and would really be that.

Malkin already was O'Reilly's replacement on his off time. She quit.

Malkin Quits "O'Reilly Factor"

More detail

Michelle Malkin Quits O'Reilly After Nasty Three-Way

Depending on the money involved this may have been a dumb move on Malkins part. She won't reach as big an audience on her own.

‘..page hopkins annoys the heck out of me...’

Ditto. This woman just never stops talking and it’s usually about herself. I cannot watch Fox and Friends week-end because Paige Hopkins and Greg Kelly are just so annoying. Kelly Wright is a good guy and much more professional than the other 2.

Fox is usually my station of choice but lately they are a bit obvious......most of the woman anchors are clones of each other (except E.D. Hill) and why do we need Heather Nauert talking over John Gibson...who I love, cause he tells it like it is..no sugar coating!

ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!... Here I am watching the election's coverage... a 3 or 4 hrs marathon and they keep repeating it... with all kinds of new electronic maps etc... A boring panel, but then again this is CNN!... I find it funny when they try to describe that "McCain is the absolute choice of the Conservatives..." I wonder to myself... Are these people so disconnected?.. it's laughable.

Oh..yes... so here I am watching the election results.. Switch to Fox, and guess what, GRETA in one of her raunchy stories... I was shocked!

I would not be surprised if the ratings begin to change or even up for cnn... We'll see.

While we’re at it, I used to think that Laurie Dhue had some class (despite all the lip gloss), but then I saw her trash-talking with that low-life Geraldo, and now I find her unwatchable. Also unwatchable: Beltway Boys, the Psnel, and Shepherd Smith. I find myself more and more watching Lou Dobbs and Glen Beck.

Yeah, intellectual prowess and Kiran Chetry can never be in the same sentence! Anyhow, she’s one of them over at CNN and acts like she’s been close friends with John Roberts for 50 years. I like Brit Hume as well and catch F&F when I can. I occasionally used to watch Fox News Watch, but usually got so tired of all the back and forth and I eventually turned the channel. TWC has intellectual depth? You’re not talking about Heidi Cullen are you? Isn’t she that global warming alarmist that’s always flapping her gums on there?
