Berkeley City Council: We Support You!
Tuesday, February 12th 2008 5 pm - 9 pm
Berkeley, CA
"Shut down the station! Bring our soldiers back!"
The Berkeley City Council NEEDS your support!
Join us this coming Tuesday night, February 12, at the Berkeley City Council meeting where councilmembers will discuss the city's position about the Marines Recruiting Station.
They need to see a visible, vibrant peace presence to further our collective efforts to help make Berkeley a military recruiting-free zone!
Your presence is crucial at this meeting, especially because the right wing, including Melanie Morgan's pro-war Move America Forward, the Marines in their full gear, and the student republicans, are all planning on attending. The right wing has mobilized people to submit vitriolic hate mail and calls to pressure the council to rescind their anti-war stance. We'll be there to support the council to pursue peace and not back down!
Wear pink, bring your friends, your kids, anyone you know who's against this war! The meeting starts at 7 pm, but please show up as early as you can ~ by 5 pm if possible~ to get a seat as seating is limited. We'll also have a powerful pink presence outside the meeting hall.
Location:
Berkeley City Council Chambers
2134 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, 2nd Floor (at Allston Way, 4 blocks from Downtown Berkeley BART)

The petition
We, the undersigned condemn the Berkeley City Councils treasonous attack on US Marine Recruiters stationed in their city. We ask that Congress cut off funds from any and all municipal entity within the confines of the city of Berkeley, California, until such time as the city council withdraws its action.
The City Council has voted to tell the Marines their downtown recruiting station is not welcome and if recruiters choose to stay, they do so as uninvited and unwelcome guests.
The measure passed last week by a vote of 8-1.
The council also voted to explore enforcing a city anti-discrimination law, focusing on the militarys dont ask, dont tell policy.
In a separate item, the council voted, also 8-1, to give the Marxist protest group Code Pink a parking space in front of the recruiting office once a week for six months and a free sound permit for protesting once a week.

Anyone catch Medea Benjamin on with Laura Ingraham last Friday night? Looks like somebody had some work on her face and neck.
Treason must pay good.

Funny, my husband thought she’d been in an accident or something (seriously, he didn’t realize who she was until I told him). ;-)

It’s a wonder the fat boy from PA is not parading around the city in a pink dress in support of these malcontents.

Everyone ....and Staff at FR.....thank you for letting me post this interview. I will be going to the rally tomorrow with video camera in hand. I have never seen Code Pink in person but some of my fellow FR friends have filled me in.
I will post the videos to google video and a link back here on FR and my site. I am going with a friend who is an editor of another Conservative publication and we have agreed to bail each other out of jail if needed. I don’t suffer fools well.
God bless the Marines and every other service man and woman who stand guard tonight to protect our lives and ensure freedom for our children.....long after you and I are gone.
