True Left: 'You're off the air after we win'
WTKK | 2/11/08

Posted on 02/11/2008 1:02:28 PM PST by pabianice

Just on the Jay Severin Show, WTKK Radio, Boston...

A self-described 24-year-old Obama supporter called Severin on the topic of the presidential campaign. The young man waxed at length about how in this election cycle the 18-29-year-old age group would be voting, for the first time, in enormous numbers. Enormous enough, in fact, to assure a victory for Obama. Severin countered that this group's huge turnout had never happened before and he doubted that it would happen now. The caller then started getting warmed-up, insulting Severin in particular, and conservatives in general as "old" and "on the way out." Severin countered calmly, which just enraged this peace-loving Obama supporter. The caller then spooled-up into a rant about the end of "old conservatives" in favor of the new, hip, 18-29-year olds (I couldn't help but flash to 'Wild in the Streets'). The caller finished by promising that, when his side won, Severin would be out of a job after the Young Left used their power to pull his show from the radio.

In all, a great look into a large part of Obama's support and what the Left is simmering over these days.

The Young Left is probably way too young to remember 1994 and what happened when the Young Left of that day tried the same.

Imagine the liberal media uproar over the "chilling attack on freedom of speech" if a conservative caller said precisely the same thing to Al Franken or any other Airhead America talk show hosts.

The Young Left was at its peak in the late 60’s and early 70’s.

Nixon elected twice. Nuff said.

Ah, 24.

That wonderful age when the "old folks" make a lot more money than they need.

Have a much bigger house than they can use.

Drive a much nicer car than they should have.

And take little pills that warn them to contact a doctor if something lasts longer than 4 hours.

Like 4 hours is some kind of record!

Quite true.

The larger problem is the GOP has not forgotten how they had their rear ends handed to them in late 1995 with the conservative Newt budget. All of the popular media, rats, academia, etc pounded the pubbies into the dirt over draconian, socalled budget "cuts."

It is no small surprise that conservative pols are scarce and why the last one of prominence was Ronaldus Magnus. Conservatism is noble, but not often conducive to job longevity.

McCain did not support the so-called Fairness Doctrine. Lots to criticize McCain on, but this isn't one of them. He and Sen. Thune co-sponsored legislation early last summer to stop the democrats from resurrecting it. It was the senate version of the Broadcaster's Freedom Act that overwhelmingly passed in the House.
