France Has Died, But Nobody Noticed
The Brussels Journal ^ | 2008-02-06 | Tiberge

Posted on 02/11/2008 10:52:58 PM PST by rmlew

You would never know, by skimming through Le Monde, and Le Figaro, let alone the international media, that the Treaty of Lisbon, short of some deus ex machina, will be ratified sometime between now and February 8. The French news is full of American politics.

This is another great decoy for Sarkozy. Besides his marriage (which is now old news), there is the great American election to distract the French from the scenario that will unfold in their National Assembly and Senate over the next two days.

Those of you who know French may be interested in this video from Nicolas Dupont-Aignan.

Sovereign European countries are dying by treaty even if the people reject the full constitution.
The supposed political orientation of the leading parties is not relevant. They are all Tranzis.

France (b. Verdun, August 843 – d. Versailles, February 2008), RIP

http://s.tf1.fr/mmdia/i/29/3/2022293_5.jpg
Today, France’s deputies and senators meeting in Parliament in Versailles ratified by a vote of 560 to 181 the constitutional revision that precedes the ratification of the Treaty of Lisbon. The result of this voting opens the way for the final ratification, Thursday, first at the National Assembly, then the Senate. Out of 893 present, 741 voted.

France is the 5th country after Hungary, Slovenia, Romania and Malta to ratify the Lisbon Treaty, in which they sign their sovereignty away.

the premise of this thread is faulty. It relies on assumption that the French ever desired independent sovereignty in the first place. They’ve spent the last several centuries trying to control and dominate Europe and the rest of the world through various attempts at empire, colonization, and treaty systems. In the eyes of the French Intelligentsia, they’re finally realizing their dream of uniting Europe under their well meaning, beneficent, and ultimately paternalistic control. This is what the French have been driving at for their entire history.

That’s true, it looks like that US election in French and European medias attract as much as the last French election in US medias..... Looks like Sarko did not desserve this excessive attention.

France is probably dying, but I am surprised to see that the lesson comes from a country which is already almost dead and divided in 2 parts!

“This is the dream of Louis XIV and Napoleon”

I believe that’s true. When sovereign states become an amalgamation, one of them has to emerge as first among equals.

To students of public administration, the French administrative state that was begun by Louis XIV and perfected by the Napoleonic Code, is the ideal.

Recall how French was once the language of diplomacy.

This development is entirely separate from the Muslim Problem.

When states (notice I didn't say "nations") are too weak internally to handle their own affairs and/or face external challenges, they will consolidate with others. This can happen of their own accord (France was a charter member of the original CM/Coal and Steel agreement) or through the actions of their neighbors (see the partition of Poland in the 18th century).

Yes, but Louis XIV was a Frenchman.
The issue was exporting French culture and dominating, not losing culture and becoming subservient.

It will accelerate it.
1) Nationalist parties will be outlawed so internal defenses will be obliterated.
2) If Turkey enters, all is lost.

No, I think you have the typo and Borges has the right idea. It’s the one positive spin that can be placed on this. The imposition of Sharia law in one state can be accomplished when a “tipping point” is reached in terms of the percentage of the Muslim population. Aggregating states together might effectively move the “tipping point” further into the future.

These internal states will have voting powers. Under the new system they will only have to gain the majority in one state to have the rest of those states accept Sharia as a part of the union. The other states will be PC'ed into accepting or else they will have to secede from the union. None of these states show any inclination to stand up to this or else they would be doing so already. They will use the European’s politically correct attitudes to finally gain rule by attrition.

Being in the union makes it more likely that they will be sucked in because they are trapped by it. The funny thing is that we may be the ones that started the ball rolling. Kosovo will soon be independent and will be allowed to join the union quickly to be under its protection. That will be the first Islamic member.

They harmed themselves, pal. There is nothing conservative about denying that they got what they deserved because of their own actions.

They stab us in the back at every chance. I do not feel sorry that they are getting what they deserve. I DO feel bad that they are helping to destroy western civilization, though.

I for one hope that something happens to stop this takeover. It's got to take something really big to do it though. Madrid did do much to change the minds of Europeans about the crazy immigration problem they have. I really see Europe as we have known it becoming a thing of the past unless there is a major war between the west and Islam. Islam shows no signs to me that there is any impact on their inner desire to spread the faith by whatever means they have at hand.

The west has no center to draw to to counteract this attrition tactic. We have replaced religion with some vague culture identity that is perceived but is not a rally point. The weakness at the center of it all is political correctness. This one thing makes every sane argument mutated and is used not only by us but by them against us. They see this only as weakness that should be capitalized on.

They are successfully exporting French bureaucracy and ideology all over Europe, which was old king Louie’s project, and it is interesting that the old Bourbon and Napoleonic elites were quite an international bunch.

Don’t think “French” as in things indulged in by native French people. The mindset is more “Imperial French”, which was always a multinational phenomenon, than “native French”.

The Muslim problem is something else, still beneath the notice of the lordly bureaucrats.

I heard about this population projection. Has it been adjusted for the inter-marriage effect? An increasing portion of the population now finds it difficult to categorize themselves based on race. Race identification will probably end up going the same route as European ethnic identification has gone over the last 50 years.
