WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Senate Ethics Committee says Idaho Sen. Larry Craig acted improperly in a men's room sex sting.

In a letter Wednesday, the ethics panel says Craig's attempt to withdraw his guilty plea in a June arrest at a Minneapolis airport was an effort to evade legal consequences of his own actions.

I suspect the Ethics Committee has made the mistake of confusing Senator Craig's wide stance with an attempt to evade legal consequences.

A common error.

"The ethics panel took no further action against Craig."

I suspect the Voters of Idaho, WILL take further action!

I have a tough time getting very upset at a crime that has no victim and that you need a secret decoded ring to know that it even occurred.

I am not pro-gay but somewhat ambivalent to them. That said, how is what Craig did any different from a guy hitting on a girl at a bar. A girl flirting with a guy at a lunch counter. The way I see it, the guys and girls have to play some romance game before knowing each other in the biblical sense. Gays just cut out the romance part and get right to business. Again, not condoning reckless bathroom sex and I really don’t want to walk in on it but I don’t see the crime in seeking a partner. Nomex garb donned!

Pardon my french, but why in the hell is Craig still in the Senate? Can’t the GOP do something to get rid of him?

You really missed the whole point.

Impropriety, scheming, hypocritical, lying, and desperation. The subject is irrelevant for most; the guy is an embarrassment and only worsens the abysmal opinion (deserved) that noble Americans have for congress-critters.

There are so few worth a squirt, that we would all be better off if the slate were clean, and we could restart. I’d move the capitol to Wichita.

Craig should have immediately switched to the democRat party and announced that he was gay. He would then be on the short list for the democRat Vice Presidential nomination.

Immature Toilet Humor Ping!

To be added to this ping list just make some stupid bathroom humor innuendo that has nothing to do with Larry Craig.

Craig really blew it. He threw his life down the toilet. The only way he can resurrect his career is to suck it up, swallow his pride, get on his knees and ask for forgiveness.

being a Senator places him a category which requires behavior above and beyond the norm

There is a reason men and women have separate bathrooms. Mating rituals and sexual activity of any kind or form (hitting on, flirting, pickups, hook ups, etc.) were never a part of a public bathroom’s design. The sexes were separated so that you would not have to even think about that kind of activity occurring in a bathroom. People could go in, disrobe, and take care of private bodily functions without worry that they would be bothered, harassed or hit upon.

Now some people seem to want to turn a bathroom into a pickup joint. By their way of thinking, there is no reason for the sexes to be separate at all.

Bathrooms should be the new public pickup/hook up places. Kids? Why should anyone care about them? Parents should be required to tell the kids what’s going on. It’s up to them to explain why people with clothes around their ankles are joined at the hip in a public place. Privacy, who could possibly want privacy in a public place? After all we know that bathrooms weren’t actually created with a specific purpose in mind. They should be whatever we want to invent them to be. It’s all about freeeeedom. (/s + hedonistic license BARF!)

I guess my post was skimmed. I never said it was alright for anyone to have sex in a public toilet. I threw out the question...why is it wrong for two people to make arrangements regardless of the location.

Again, I do not advocate this type of reckless behavior for gay or straight.

As for Craig, I agree that as a Senator he should be held to a higher standard.

I guess my post was skimmed. I mentioned both sexual activity and pickups. I don’t advocate any of this in public bathrooms. Let them all go elsewhere instead. Public bathrooms have a purpose and dating is not part of that purpose.

Craig’s spunky career has fallen short of expectations and he has prematurely withdrawn from Congress but not before blowing it and leaving a mess for his partners to clean up.

Aah, well...I suppose it was too much too hope for, anyway.
