Saudi Arabia to execute woman for 'witchcraft' ("One man claimed she had made him impotent.")

Saudi Arabia to execute woman for 'witchcraft'

Thursday, February 14, 2008

A leading international human rights organisation is calling on Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah to halt the planned execution of a woman accused of "witchcraft".

The woman is due to be put to death on foot of a coerced confession and the statements of witnesses who said she had "bewitched" them.

One man claimed she had made him impotent. In another case, a divorced woman reportedly returned to her ex-husband during the month predicted by the witch said to have cast the spell. The court failed to probe alternative explanations for these incidents.

Human Rights Watch has described the charges against her as "absurd" and says they have no basis in law.

"The fact that Saudi judges still conduct trials for unprovable crimes like 'witchcraft' underscores their inability to carry out objective criminal investigations," said Joe Stork, Middle East director at Human Rights Watch.

"Fawza Falih's case is an example of how the authorities failed to comply even with existing safeguards in the Saudi justice system," he added.

The judges are said to have relied on Fawza Falih's coerced confession and on the statements of witnesses who said she had "bewitched" them to convict her in April 2006.

Falih retracted her confession in court, claiming it was extracted under duress. She said that as an illiterate woman she did not understand the document she was forced to fingerprint.

She also stated in her appeal that her interrogators beat her during her 35 days in detention at the hands.

In November of last year Saudi Arabia executed pharmacist Mustafa Ibrahim for sorcery in Riyadh. Clerics of Saudi Arabia's austere form of Islam, known as Wahhabism, take accusations of sorcery seriously and recently held a conference in Riyadh on how to combat it.

I wonder if his charge came while he was punishing her with the standard “religous rape” for some infraction of Sharia.

The Saudis do not build tourist attractions. You only have two reasons for travel there ~ business, or the Haj (the annual visit to the Kaaba).

You are probably thinking of some of the other kingdoms in the Middle East.

Democrats practice witchcraft every day ... and we elect them!

Listen to Obama. We are going to save the auto industry by STRENGTHENING THE UNIONS? Let’s see. Union wages passed on to consumers result in America not being competitive in the passenger car market. So, ADDING costs to American passenger cars will save the auto industry? Ah, we add TARIFFS to all imports (and any nonunion auto plants in the US) to “protect” the unions. But wait, consumers will now pay more for their cars AND quality will go down.

This is witchcraft!

Just ONE MORE piece of evidence that Islam is the religion of primitive savages and that the form of it practiced in Saudi Arabia (Wahhabism) is the WORST.

REMEMBER this when some idiot tells you Islam is just another religion and they know some “nice” Muslims.

How do we know they're not both the same case. The latter incident has been known to cause the former.

One man claimed she had made him impotent.

I'll bet she could have cured that by dressing up like a camel.

I see Islam as a sort of hydraulic empire. Man naturally needs a connection with God; he will always seek it. In the Islamic system, where they allow only one faith to be proselytized and openly celebrated, and through taxation and sharia law humiliate and impoverish non-muslims, the seekers will collect in Islam . . . there is only one spirituality allowed. Since it is a natural need the Islamic state essentially controls their subjects through faith.

Since Islam also requires jihad, we can never be safe so long as this is the system. I know of no Islamic region, state, or nation that has been reclaimed from Islam except through force of arms. So the danger grows now that the west has rejected actual conquest and annexation of territory and since religions other than Islam cannot evangelize in Islamic countries. It’s a more dangerous system than the old Soviet one, where they falsely claimed that socialism couldn’t be rolled back.

My point is that we SHOULD care about human rights in Islamic countries. The alternative to freedom of speech, association and religion is ultimately, war.

To hold "witchcraft" to be a crime, you must first believe in "witchraft".

That's why "witchcraft" is not a crime in Canada, but "pretending to exercise witchcraft" is. (BTW that's not a holdover from the past, it's the charge used in cases of fortune-telling fraud.)

No doubt a high crime against humanity in this "religion".

The Arab/Islamic science was ahead of every other culture in the world until the Muslim religion became the majority in their culture.

No, it’s not just a coincidence.

Since ladies are regarded as being considerably less than human by these trash, I would imagine that the notion of an execution based upon absolutely nothing but a rapist's bruised ego and subsequent hysterical comments doesn't even rise to the point of a significant concern to them......as long as the one being executed is a woman, that is.

Please remind me....the reason why we haven't yet nuked Mecca is what, exactly?  I'm having trouble remembering.
