Rapist’s Murder Stirs Debate
St Petersburg Times ^ | February 12, 2008 | Galina Stolyarova

As a retired local boxer stands trial for killing an assailant who was caught attempting to rape his adopted child, the city parliament is calling for increased penalties for pedophilia.

Moscow City Prosecutor Yury Syomin warned on Friday against “turning the boxer into a heroic figure.”

“Whatever the circumstance may have been, nobody gave the man the right to take another person’s life,” Syomin said.

The boxer did the right thing as far as I’m concerned.

But to Liberals... they’d love to jail him.

Rapist’s Murder Stirs Debate

The only debate should be SHOULD WE KILL THEM ALL?

On last New Year’s Eve, Alexander Kuznetsov caught 20-year old Uzbek native Bakhtishod Khairillayev sexually attacking his 8-year-old adopted son in the stair well of his apartment building. The boy was naked and unconscious. Ex-boxer Kuznetsov then beat Khairillayev to death.

Hmmm...wonder what religion the Uzbek was...

We should convict people who take the law into their hands in this manner. The courts are where justice should take place.

After conviction on principle, the gentleman should be given a suspended sentence, and be sent away with the condolences of the court.

It’s called self-defense.

I don’t know about you, but if somebody was trying to rape my child, if I didn’t make it so they couldn’t rape again, I’d probably do something worse.

Self defense certainly includes the right to protect your child—or any one else’s child.

All he his lawyer has to argue is that, “Gee, sorry, I guess I hit him a little harder than I meant to, but I got mad when I saw him trying to rape and kill my child.”

If any jury convicts on that basis, they are insane.

Outrageous! How can anyone excuse this boxer?!?...

He should have taken the molestor to an undisclosed location and gone medieval on 'im.

Free the man, he did the world a service.

The proper moral course of action for this and all similar scenarios is to try him for murder, and, if convicted, provide a full pardon and wipe clean his record.

Oh, come ON! Please don’t post such misleading titles - I thought that this was about some guy named Billy Jeff.

Seriously, I cannot do anything but praise this man for doing the right thing.

I wonder if the prosecutors hail back to Communist days when only communists have the right to kill people.

This was not a premeditated murder; this is a case where the perpetrator was caught in flagrante. The father's temporarily insane reaction was quite normal. This is a justifiable homicide.

"Had the father known that the criminal would get his due in full, he would most certainly not have faced such a tragic and horrendous choice."

I don't know about this father, but if it were my kid, they'd have to scrap what was left of the little punk off the ground with a spatula. What in the world is wrong with those guys over there? I thought they were pretty brutal on this sort of crime.

According to the CIA World Factbook, Uzbekistan is 88% Muslim, mostly Sunni.

BTW, the article says the charges have been reduced from murder to aggravated assault, or something like that. Five to fifteen possible sentence.

The child was naked and unconscious. Does anyone doubt the pedophile would have killed him before he was through?

I hope the father can afford a good lawyer. Any reasonably good lawyer should be able to get this man freed. (I hope!) He deserves a medal, not prosecution.

“Whatever the circumstance may have been, nobody gave the man the right to take another person’s life,” Syomin said.

It's called self-defense.

This case wasn't exactly self-defense but close enough. The Boxer did a favor to humanity and should plead temporary insanity.

It's made more difficult because he was a boxer. If he were a regular guy, the defense of another/didn't know the damage defense would work. In this case, temporary insanity is the plea to make. Either way, dismissed or reduced to a misdemeanor is the ticket.
