(CNN) Mitt Romney predicted Sunday his party's conservative base will rally behind him on Super Tuesday in order to prevent John McCain from winning the Republican nomination.
"What I have to do is continue to see what's been happening the last few days, specifically that is conservatives across the country are saying, 'whoa, we have to get behind Mitt Romney,'" he said on CNN's Late Edition.
"You've got people like Rush Limbaugh and Laura Ingraham and the list goes on and on and on Hugh Hewitt, Lars Larson conservative voices, both from radio and from publications, are saying, 'you know what, we've got to get behind Mitt Romney,'" he continued. "We really can't afford John McCain as the nominee of our party."

Well, at least he was right about one thing. But true to form, he's already flipped on this one too.
Bump.
Yeah, let’s keep tossing those votes to Huckabee......../s
bump
In only 10 days.
Ouch - that’s gonna leave a mark
Oh Noes! A politician flipped?!?!! Flopped?!?!
Where for is the Easter Bunny?
Santa Claus not real too?
Not getting into that debate (don’t blame me- I voted for Fred:) ...but I have a question - did you notice the scowl on McCain’s face during the press conf? He was frowning and did not look happy. It seemed so obvious to me- just wondering if I’m alone in my observation...
NO way.
And I guess Fred is a flipper too....
Shooo...unbelieveable
It is NORMAL to endorse the GOP candidate....
Good grief......
This is a pathetic thread
Dude you have got to get a life. Or at least a candidate to pull for. Something.
I’m worried for you once you no longer have Romney to kick around.
Waita waita waita minute. Romney just today, threw his support to McCain.
After all, he signed an abortion rights statute in California, then raised taxes.
Forget post #13 ...I got the drift.
What is with him? Why the constant swinging back and forth? Does he think conservatives will forget? That we don't read?
There was no chance of getting another nominee at this point. Different situation when he still had a chance of beating him. The primary is really over now.
But did you see how feeble and old and sick McCain looked at the podium? It sure looked nice to see someone as uber-vibrant as Romney standing next to him. If Romney's part of the ticket, doesn't that help you a little? Four years of McCain and maybe 8 years of Romney, who still has to hold to his conservative stance he ran on??
I don't know, but McCain-Romney (if that happens) helps me deal with supporting the Republican over the Democrat.
LOL, maybe, maybe not, he could have proved he really had a backbone by not flopping.
