Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson Takes Issue With President Bushs Black History Month Remarks and White House Appearance With Al Sharpton
President George W. Bush used an annual White House ceremony recognizing Black History Month to denounce displays of nooses and jokes about lynching. The presidents remarks grew out of concern over increased reports of racial tensions. President Bush recognized several prominent black Americans and introduced Rev. Al Sharpton. The following is Rev. Jesse Lee Petersons statement about what transpired at the White House ceremony:
President Bush is a decent man and I voted for him twice, but I am disappointed by his words and actions at this Black History Month event. I personally dont believe in a Black History Month. The achievements of notable black Americans should be incorporated as part of American history and reflected in the history books. The idea of a separate Black History Month is misguided and offensive.
Its especially disappointing that the president would echo the racially divisive words of Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson in order to remind white Americans to be more tolerant of other races.
Mr. President, with all due respect, you were ill advised on this matter. America has moved light years ahead on the race issuebut Al the Riot King Sharpton, whom you publicly validated, has built his career exploiting the races. Recognizing Sharpton is equivalent to promoting David Duke during European American History Month (if such a celebration existed).
In closing, Mr. President, black Americans dont need hate crime laws, ceremonies to promote Black History Month or a manufactured holiday like Kwanzaa. Instead, they need to turn back to God, restore their families and overcome their hatred of whites. No well-meaning president or government program can do that for them.

Isn’t there enough going on in America outside of raising the self esteem of blacks that we can let go of this travesty once and for all?
That increase in violence Mr. President is illegals preying on innocent American citizens.
Maybe we can celebrate a “Teach a child to read before they graduate from High School Day” instead.
hmm. anything from Obama’s pastor lately?
That’s right! Seems like he should have something to say today.....
LOL . . one of favorite cartoons.
Cheer up people, April is Confederate History Month:
Rev. JESSE LEE PETERSON =
Political & Spiritual CLARITY
Sharpton is a sleazebag, not arguably one but in fact one. Bush is a disgrace to the presidency. He made that remark because six Blacks beat a White kid and Bush supports them.
I saw that speech. It was a disgrace. President Bush pretty much said that blacks have the unique right not to be offended, in so many words. By the “noose logic”, meaning nooses were used to lynch blacks so they are offensive to blacks and should not be mentioned or displayed, would not the same be true of white people in general? Whites lynched blacks so by “noose logic” whites are offensive to blacks and should not be displayed or mentioned.
God Bless Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson.
Thanks! That was a good one. I’m glad you included it! lol
Ronnie!! How are you? I can’t believe that Jesse Jackson is still out there in any capacity, even though it is greatly diminished...
Boy, how can he be so right about terrorism and so wrong about most everything else.
Who is advising Bush? Rinos?
Oh, lord, I think we need a month to teach people to get some guts and get the bums out of the media, the government and the spotlight. I’ll vote for that month.
