Gore Warns on 'Subprime Carbon' Industry Feb 14 09:20 PM US/Eastern By JOHN HEILPRIN Associated Press Writer UNITED NATIONS (AP) - Al Gore advised Wall Street leaders and institutional investors Thursday to ditch businesses too reliant on carbon-intensive energy—or prepare for huge losses down the road.

"You need to really scrub your investment portfolios, because I guarantee you—as my longtime good redneck friends in Tennessee say, I guarandamntee you—that if you really take a fine-tooth comb and go through your portfolios, many of you are going to find them chock-full of subprime carbon assets," the former vice president said.

Carbon dioxide from burning fossil fuels is the leading component of "greenhouse gases," which scientists say are playing a key role in warming the globe.

Gore's remarks before a high-profile business crowd that collectively controls some $20 trillion in capital were intended to unleash a financial ripple effect that could force the world to start putting a price on carbon emissions.

Gore, who shared the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to warn about climate change, compared the financial risks facing investors in carbon-using industries with the meltdown in the market for subprime mortgages given to people with blemished credit records or low incomes.

"Similarly, the assumption that you can safely invest in assets that come from business models that assume carbon is free is an assumption that is about to go splat," he said. "You have lots of assets, many of you do, in your portfolios right now that truly do deserve that epithet 'subprime.'"

Good lord. This has GOT to be satire. I hate it when people miss obvious satire, but with Gore its so hard to tell.

That means if Gore isn’t paid in real dollars for his pretend carbon credits, his folks will start to wreck companies. It sounds like a shakedown.

Really, how could one objectively tell this is or is not satire? Who and where are the ratings agencies for carbon credits? Other than applying for a government grant to study the issue, where do we go?

This is economic terrorism. Gore is trying to use fear to force investors to change their economic models and buy into the AGW scam. I’ll bet he will make a tidy profit off of this, as well.

Yes, people blatantly running carbon credit scams might make those who think they can do so quietly and cunningly take pause.

After all, it’s the sort of scam that takes subtly and finesse.

I see the official Lie that will be repeated a billion times.

“Carbon dioxide from burning fossil fuels is the leading component of “greenhouse gases,” which scientists say are playing a key role in warming the globe.”

CO2 is not the leading greenhouse gas. A lie.

All scientists or even most don’t say CO2 is the KEY role.

Man made methane from cows has more effect than CO2.

Your beef is next on the list.

538 doesn't, of itself sound, too scary. But when you say that Gore lost only because of the sanity of 1.79x10-4 % of the population, it gets downright frightening.

Al Gore may be the friend of the Earth, but he is the enemy of American capitalism. He thinks he has cleverly calculated the method to shake down the American free enterprise. The problem with it is American free enterprise has its own means of self preservation. Al Gore will be lucky to escape with his skin.

I dunno. Gore is very slowly building momentum, while scientific evidence is very slowly accumulating that the whole global warming hype is globaloney. It is a collision course, or the proverbial guy with one foot on each iceberg as they slowly separate. So how long will it take for mainstream media and society to junk the junk science? My guess is 10 more years — sometime twixt 2015 and 2020. Anyone??
