Biblical hero Joseph 'was really a Muslim' Palestinians make astonishing claim, deny they'll help restore burned tomb

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Building at Joseph's Tomb site after Palestinian Authority took control in 2000 .

In the wake of an attempt by Palestinians to burn down Joseph's Tomb – Judaism's third holiest site – Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah faction issued a statement denying it will help restore the shrine, referring to both the shrine and the biblical patriarch as "Muslim."

"Pay no attention to the rumors that we will work with Israel to restore the burial site of the holy Muslim Joseph," said the statement, issued from Nablus, the biblical city of Shechem. "We are going to guard this holy Muslim site."

Joseph's Tomb is the believed burial place of the son of Jacob who was sold by his brothers into slavery and later became viceroy of Egypt.

Uhhhh, I’m no scholar of either the Christian or Muslim religion, but didn’t Joseph live roughly around 1 A.D., while Muhammed didn’t show up until seven or eight centuries later?

Uh, Joseph lived roughly around 1500 BC and is the Father of two separate tribes of Israel.

Technically, wasn’t Jesus an arab? I have no idea where people got the fair skinned, blue eyed, long brown hair guy from. But I’m far from a Biblical scholar.

My mistake, I was mixing him up with Joseph the surrogate father of Jesus, rather than the bearer of the multicolored coat. Still, that further proves my point - 1500BC, people thought the guy Muhammed was mucking out the camel stalls.

Perhaps you’re thinking of Josephus, who was a Jewish general until he switched sides to the Romans and then wrote two large books.

A semite IS an arab. Don’t confuse arab with Muslim. I could be wrong since I’m going from memory, but even ashkenazi Jews (central European) aren’t really semetic by definition. The truly semetic jews are the sephardics and I think two other tribes. But again, I’m going from memory here and “semetic” has taken on a different meaning over the years.

Everything on the globe is muslim to a muslim.

Exactly. Whatever mine is mine. Whatever yours is mutual, for now, until it is fully mine.

Yes indeed. There is more to this story though. The son of Abraham by his wife Sarah named Issac and his son Jacob and his twelve sons led to the Jewish race as the scriptures state.Joseph was a son of Jacob. The son of Abraham by the concubine Hagar, Ishmael, the Egyptian led to the Arab races who are the worst enemies of the sons of Abraham, Issac and Jacob, Israel. The Saviour of the world Christ Jesus came through the line of Judah, one of the 12 patriarchs of the sons of Jacob.

Ya think they would do simple math before making such a claim-IRC, Muhammad lived around 700 AD, while Joseph (son of Jacob, not husband of Mary) was circa 1000BC.

Okay I guess if you don’t rely on facts at all.

God Bless

Can you expand on that? I actually am very interested in where the western version of Jesus of Nazareth came from.
