McCain's sharp tongue: An Achilles heel?
Associated Press ^ | February 15, 2008 | LIbby Quaid

WASHINGTON - Temper, temper. Republican John McCain is known for his. He's been dubbed "Senator Hothead" by more than one publication, but he's also had some success extracting his hatchet from several foreheads.

Even his Republican Senate colleagues are not spared his sharp tongue.

"F--- you," he shouted at Texas Sen. John Cornyn last year.

"Only an a------ would put together a budget like this," he told the former Budget Committee chairman, Sen. Pete Domenici, in 1999.

"I'm calling you a f------ jerk!" he once retorted to Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley.

With Cornyn, he smoothed things over quickly. The two argued during a meeting on immigration legislation; Cornyn complained that McCain seemed to parachute in during the final stages of negotiations. "F--- you. I know more about this than anyone else in the room," McCain reportedly shouted.

OMG!! I APOLOGIZE. MEA CULPA, MEA MAXIMA CULPA!! I've repeatedly said the MSM dump on McCain for his mental instability would only begin after he got the nomination. It's beginning six months before he even gets the nomination. Why didn't the ever nonpartisan AP mention this before the primaries???

I can’t help noting the number of anti-Obama articles even though that primary hasn’t been decided. Not to mention the fake McCain beats Hillary polls. It is pretty obviously to me what the press is trying to do.

Whatever McCain’e real temper, it can’t compare to Hillary.

Years ago, I remember watching Bill Clinton talk on TV. He had a big bump and a scratch on his forehead. My husabnd and I figured Hillary clobbered him with a lamp.

How can that be? I only hear that McCain has a temper, I never hear that Mrs. Clinton has one. /s

The drive-by-main-stream media pukes will attack McCain from now until November, while their friends, the DNC, decide who their candidate will be.

With the possibility of a Dem brokered convention, or at least a tumultuous one, the media will keep McCain from getting his poll numbers up.

They also need to keep the GOP and the Republican base from coming together to defeat the liberal/progressive/socialist movement that is the Democrat Party.

I've said it from day one. His temper will be his undoing. The MSM will have a field day with him.
IMO, the MSM "created" the "maverick" image for him and he has done everything he can to promote that image.
He's no "maverick". He wants the media attention.
When the MSM turns on him he'll feel betrayed and go ballistic. They're counting on it.
I think he has come to believe he's been "anointed" by the MSM and, in fact, he has.....
Anointed to be the "fall guy", that is. They'll "push his buttons" and he'll lash out.
All on prime time TV. It won't be pretty.

Can anyone see the thread here…..Political Correctness. Words like gay, pimp, negro, etc. have taken on a life of their own and all now point to the user as being intolerant or insensitive. That grown men and women use swear words and some rattle snake reporter is within ear shot and spends whatever time it takes to ‘shop’ his story it is then reported as an earth shattering moment that sends bells to ringing, mountains to quaking and little chul’ren scattering to the safety of their mom’s arms. Give me a break! John McCain is want to speak his mind and does! We’ve become so use to the nannies telling everyone how hateful it is to tell the truth or speak ones mind that we’re all suspect of saying a H-A-T-E or S-W-E-A-R word.

Sometimes the F word or S word is most appropriate…some emasculated pricks need to be upbraided from time to time with what they really are.

One of Obama’s many problems is his youth and inexperience. The MSM will counter that by making McCain into a foul mouthed, hotheaded, bully who lacks the self control to be POTUS. By November, Obama will look positively Presidential in comparison.

And they’re starting earlier than I thought, too. Looks like they’ve done the math and figured out that with Romney’s delegates going to McCain, we’re not going to have a brokered convention. IOW, it’s safe for the long knives to come out.

This has prompted questions about whether his temperament is suited to the office of commander-in-chief or whether it might handicap him in a presidential campaign against either Barack Obama or Hillary Rodham Clinton, who are not known for such outbursts.

I guess they consider "We will crush you! You'll regret having ever mentioned this to me!", "F--- Jew B*****", etc. are examples of her calm demeanor.

If temper were only the worst of McCain’s characteristics. Here are a few statements he makes repeatedly”

“I know how to lead.”

“I’m the most qualified to lead.”

“I know what’s best for America.”

“I was elected to make the tough decisions, not the easy decisions.”

He’s beyond an ego problem, or temper problem, but has a Little Napoleon complex and thinks he, and only he, has all the answers. If president, he’d do whatever he damn well pleased and then mouth about “reaching across the isle” and “making the tough decisions.” He be beyond reason and influence because he has this complex, and would always fall into his self-affirming and excusing bromides.

It is exceedingly unfair to characterize Senator Cornyn arguing against giving American sovereignty away to illegals as an emasculated pr*ck. The one bending over for his globalist overlords in a most crude and unwarranted manner was McCain.

To *you* it was 40 years ago.......

My dad is a WWII vet, South Pacific Theater. He lost a lot of good friends to the “Japs” (BTW, he still refers to them as Japs).

He feels the loss almost as much today as he did 60+ years ago. You also will not find any 'Jap' products in his use either, tho today the attitude is becoming untenable.

I can imagine that every time his back or shoulder joints cause him pain, John feels the same....

Is it an excuse? NO. Is it understandable, to me anyway - yes.

Should he be CiC or POTUS? Again, in my view, no.

Mac’s emotional constitution does concern me. I think anyone who endured what he has would have some symptoms of PTSD. But cussing out politicians isn’t always a bad thing. Like anyone, I hate war, and I think Mac hates it more than I do. But, he is pretty savvy on foreign relations stuff. He would not say, for instance, that Putin has no soul. I understand that that is a very disparaging comment among Russians.
Getting infuriated at the behavior of a nuclear rival could be bad. But H is more likely to go off the handle than Mac is. I think.
A one mg. klonopin before sleepy time and Mac would be good to go.
H is crazier than Mac and O is so far left, so far out there, his political-psychological makeup is almost beyond analysis. But, I think a messiah-rock star complex comes closest, maybe not so much with O yet (it’ll appear), but I detect a Jim Jones type loyalty evident among many of his sycophantic disciples.
