A convicted Nazi war criminal arrived in Italy yesterday to start a life sentence imposed in his absence for the murder and torture of prisoners in the final year of the Second World War.
Michael Seifert, 83, a Ukraine-born Canadian citizen dubbed the "Beast of Bolzano", has lived in Canada since 1951. He had been fighting extradition for eight years.
The former SS corporal was a guard at a prison camp in Bolzano, northern Italy - used as a transit point for Jews, Italian resistance fighters and others - in 1944 and 1945. An Italian military tribunal convicted him in absentia in 2000 of torturing and killing at least 17 people while working at the camp.
Court papers said Seifert had tortured his victims with fire, broken bottles, clubs and freezing water.
In one instance, he had raped a pregnant woman detained in an isolation cell before killing her. In another case, he had left a 15-year-old Jewish prisoner to die of hunger.
advertisementCanada's supreme court refused last month to hear his appeal against extradition. His lawyers argued that he had been convicted unfairly and that Canadian officials were biased against him in allowing the extradition.
Yesterday, Seifert stepped off a plane at Rome's Ciampino airport before dawn and walked slowly with the aid of a cane as police escorted him away.
Good. It’s also a needed message to contemporary Hitler wanna-bes, even though they will scoff at it until severely punished.
Never forgive, never forget. To forgive is to tell the next genocidal dictator, “Go ahead and kill and torture. We’ll forgive you too.”
I’d post a picture of a noose, but then some whiner would cry raaayyyycisssssmmmm.
Strange how the world doesn’t go after old communists with the same zeal.
Well we have the Uke bashers doing the kremlins dirty work.
Its fascinating that Seifert ,besides being born in a German colony, uses a German translator in court and has never identified himself as anything but German.
When do we start prosecuting Communists?

The liberals didn’t so much forgive them as deny they did anything wrong in the first place.
Good! Death to all Nazi Scum!
If you oppose the Kremlin, I hope you also oppose the small but vocal group of pro-Serb militants who have taken residence here and fooled a lot of gullible morons into praising Putin. They say he’s “standing against Islamic terrorism.” Yeah, right. How is helping an Islamic terror state (Iran) get nuclear weapons “standing against Islamic terrorism?”
Those people need to open their eyes. Putin doesn’t give a rat’s ass about Serb freedom, he’s just supporting them for his own selfish interests. The whole Balkan conflict is thug vs. thug, and we shouldn’t be kissing the ass of either side. Serb-lovers and Albanian-lovers should both listen up. And the latter category includes XXX42, who marched us into Kosovo but didn’t have an exit strategy, leaving the current administration to clean up yet another one of Slick Willie’s stains.
Amen!
“never forget”
Does communist genocide count - I think you forgot.

I didn’t forget. This particular thread was about a Nazi war criminal. That doesn’t mean I don’t remember the victims of other genocides.
I know of the genocide Stalin committed against the Ukrainian people, and his many other crimes. At the end of WWII in Europe, when we had defeated the Nazis, there were some Allied generals who wanted to attack the Communists right then and there, and I’d have agreed with them. Defeat them before they could get the bomb.
Don’t be so quick to assume.
OK ... How do you do that?
What's with all that gobblediggook takin' the place of an apostrophe?
“I didnt forget. This particular thread was about a Nazi war criminal.”
Well the problem is that there is ZERO EFFORT TO EXTRADITE AND PROSECUTE COMMUNISTS and this policy must be stopped.
Everytime we prosecute a Nazi, it means another day when we have failed to PROSECUTE THE FIRST COMMUNIST for the genocide of 100 million in the last century.
So every Nazi prosecution thread is a failed communist prosecution.
