College Presidents: How Many Students Have to Die Before You Allow Guns on Your Campus?
Townhall ^ | Feb 16,2008 | Doug Giles

Posted on 02/17/2008 10:01:02 AM PST by SeekAndFind

“Fear no man of any size, call on me and I’ll equalize.” —Common engraving on Frontier firearms

“Call me simple. Call me a redneck. Call me whatever the heck you wanna call me—but until we allow credible and licensed, proven and protective professors and students to carry a weapon (gun) on campus, we will see this murderous madness occur again and again and again.”

That paragraph was lifted from my April 21st, 2007 column from Townhall.com right after Cho Seung-Hui (or Seung-Hui Cho, however the heck you arrange his name) killed 32 students on Virginia Tech’s campus. Remember that?

As I easily predicted back in April 2007, here we are, less than a year later, being forced to watch (one more time) a bloody yet easily-remedied BS scenario from hades unfold upon our nation’s young people.

Last Thursday at Northern Illinois University, the now resident of hell, Stephen Kazmierczak, strolled into a class packed with 162 students and opened fire with a shotgun and three handguns, killing five students and wounding sixteen others and firing over 50 rounds before the toad killed himself (why can’t they start with suicide?).

Un-be-lievable.

The victims, Gayle Dubowski, 20, Catalina Garcia, 20, Julianna Gehant, 32, Ryanne Mace, 19, and Daniel Parmenter, 20, were accomplished students full of life, hopes and dreams that were cut down before they ever hit their stride. If that happened to one of my kids I would be gutted and extremely PO’ed that their campus had pretty much nothing in place to stop this kind of mayhem. No one was there to stop Kazmierczak. A prof or an “of age” licensed to carry student with a pistol probably could have.

The NIU slaughter—which was, by the way, one of 45 shootings (five this week) since 1996 that have occurred on campuses in the United States in “gun free zones”—will not be the last. The mass murderers among us have taken quite the shinin’ to shooting up our students at their schools. The principal reason is that it’s so easy for them to carry out their death wishes because university officials will not allow good guys with guns to carry in class and be an onsite deterrent to death-dealing dillweeds.

Hey, “all wise” college presidents and other admin wizards: Until you allow guns—real guns, guns that go bang and kill bad guys—you (to make it personal), your faculty and the students you’re responsible for will continue to be sitting ducks, potential fleshy sponges to soak up the hot lead from some pathetic loser’s happy trigger finger. The gun free stuff ain’t working.

I know what you’re thinking: “It’ll never happen at my school.” That’s probably the same smack the chiefs at the 45 schools and universities since ‘96 thought right before their students were perforated by bullets flying anywhere between 1200 – 2800 feet per second.

Now I’ll be the first to admit, I am not nearly as astute as the suits that head up our nation’s bastions of higher edumication, but as a simple man, I’m smart enough to know that you should never bring a knife to a gun fight, and if the mass murderers are using guns, maybe, just maybe, you guys ought to get one—or ten.

Listen, Dr. Numbnuts, all the talk you guys have been doing about proper precautions on campus, all the extra fat security cops you’ve recently employed with faster golf carts, shinier badges and long range pepper spray are no threat to a perp with a gun and the attitude to use it. A chunky butt security guard with a plastic dollar store badge and a 6-year-old can of mace on a golf cart is no help when the hellion shows up in your auditorium with a 12 gauge and three handguns.

Yes, if your foe has a gun, then he has a solid and deadly advantage, and the cops can’t get there fast enough to do much about it.

Yes sir/madam, when this type of stuff hits the fan your campus must have deadly force on the spot to counter deadly force. Duh. That is unless, of course, you’re cool with our kids being killed. I, However, am not. And as a parent of a college student I will go so far as to buy my daughter’s entire campus pistols for the guards, trained profs, and legal students if they will finally do the math and realize that putting guns in the hands of trained good guys is the only way to daunt murderous goons.

I think this needs to change - allow students/faculty to CCW. If the gunman went for the administrative officers instead of students, there would be a change in "tune" by these morons. Just like corporate executives who swoon for gun control but yet, they are not affected by these laws because they have bodyguards to protect them. Quite a few corporate executives support gun control like the President of AT&T, George Soros, Ted Turner, Andrew McKelvey to name a few.

I personally have connections with U. of Colorado in Colorado Springs and I am there several times each week. There was an incident about a year ago where a student brought a banned weapon on campus and he got into a heap of trouble legally plus a permanent ban. The student was visiting from Mississippi. I don't what happened after that. If you have a CCW, you should be allowed to carry on campus.

I know there would be more knee jerk reactions. I can see our University campuses becoming more "closed" instead of remaining "open" similar to our high schools. I went to a private H.S. back in Indianapolis and it was an open campus. I graduated back in 1985 and when I was home over break from college especially the year after I graduated, I would go over to my H.S. in the late morning and go hang around with friends who were still there. To give better background on the school, they were on a modular schedule where each class met about 4 times each week and the times that class met varied. You also had either 20 or 40 minute breaks spread throughout the day as well so you were free to go to the library, go to the cafeteria, go to the gym and goof off or go outside. Today, that H.S. is much more closed such as locked doors with reentry through the main door that is access controlled. What a change from 22 years ago. We had it good about 22 years ago compared to today.

If many people did CCW, if a few people who try to pull some $h!t and get their @$$ shot dead, other people who want to do this nonsense would get an idea that it is not worth it, therefore be deterred.

And, as long as THEY don’t get shot, they could care less. When I was in college, I saw a professor stand by and LAUGH, when a male student threatened a coed. He acutally ENCOURAGED it. I asked him, why in the hell he allowed it. He said, “who cares, she’s worthless, and I don’t like her. She deserves it.” He was NOT thrilled when I reported him.

When the Laws don’t stop the criminal.

When the Police are not there to stop the crime.

When the Criminal won’t stop their Killing.

When will they learn that WE have the right to DEFEND ourselves!

Remember; The Police arrive to make a report and draw the chalk outline of the bodies. I would rather the outline be of the criminal.

When it comes down to it, You have to take action. If the bad guy has a weapon, and the GUN FREE ZONE did nothing to deter this person, you have a choice, be a victim and be the chalk outline, or Protect yourself, by eliminating the threat!

Gun Free Zones are nothing more than target rich shooting range for Terrorists.

That’s obvious to us, but it would require the (self-appointed) elightened, tolerant, intelligentsia to actually admit that there IS such a concept as good vs. bad, and that one is BETTER than the other.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

These Marxist administrators **know** what they are doing.
The goal is the destruction of the Judeo Christian culture upon which all freedom rests.

Marxist ideology and destruction of Western Civilization is what is important to the Marxists running our schools ( college and K-12). Ideology is more important, even if it means dead students. Marxist long range goals are more important than the saving of lives in the short term.

It's even worse in Illinois. The governor and legislature, with the wholehearted support of the Chicago DemonRat machine that's probably in the back pockets of the gangs have effectively made the entire state a "gun free" by refusing to allow any type of concealed carry, even discretionary concealed carry. They are reaping the evil crop they have sewn.

be a victim and be the chalk outline,

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

The goal of the Marxist school administrator ( K-12 and university) is to train their students to be submissive.

If a student is trained to hover in a corner and plead and beg for his life, he will do the same when the brown shirts come knocking at his door.

Not that I suspect there is, but is there a college that doesn’t have rules against guns? This simple redneck mama would sure like to put that school at the top of the kids’ list for applications.

What exactly is the solution being proposed here?

If college security guards are armed, and I'm not sure that the ones at VT and NIU weren't, that would not have stopped a shooter who just walks into a classroom and opens fire. There is no way that there will be a guard present near every class.

Arming all the students is another possible solution, but I can say for certain that many students I have known could not be trusted to carry a gun around campus without being a danger to their classmates or themselves.

Arming some of the students is an option, but how would you decide who to select?

The best solution might be to arm a lot of the professors, if they would go for it. But some people might not like to be lectured to by a guy carrying a gun.

And as a parent of a college student I will go so far as to buy my daughter’s entire campus pistols for the guards, trained profs, and legal students if they will finally do the math and realize that putting guns in the hands of trained good guys is the only way to daunt murderous goons.

I suspect a lot of parents will chip in

CCW has been OK on Utah campii for quite some time and the students have yet to kill each other because of it.

Think about the University of Utah . The last I checked , the administration would like to ban guns but state law has so far prevailed .

And THEY would be the WHITE SLAVEMASTERS who would rule over us all, as they are so much “smarter” then the rest of us.

How about we start a list of universities that allow guns.

1) University of Utah

2) other Utah campuses

Ditto here. When I shot that guy at work, the cops didn’t care if the gun was even mine. I didn’t care either. I could care less about gun control laws, even if guns were banned.
