>> I heard myself screaming, “Condoleezza Rice is a liar! Rumsfeld is a war criminal!” it became clear that it was not his stridency that was causing this rift in our marriage, but mine.<<

That part sounds believable.

On my first date with Lorne, over black ink pasta and Chianti, I ranted about union busting.

If it was me, this would have been the last date. What a smug twit. Another "fake but accurate" story from the MSM.

Everyone who read that tale should go to Amazon.com and get Harry Stein's How I Accidently Joined the Right Wing Conspiracy (and Found Inner Peace).

The first time I voted was for Klinton in 1992. 2 years later I was a strident Republican due to 1) Getting a paycheck 2) Realizing liberals are not what was sold to me 3) A bad experience with a feminist professor in college.

I feel for this poor guy.

In the end, he just gave up expressing his real views to his hauty, self important, self-righteous wife.

In the end, he decided other things were more important than “expressing” his views, even in the most innocuous ways.

Hard to say if he is a sinner, or a saint here. No doubt what she is, though.

As people get older, the conversions they make are usually to the more conservative side. Maturity and life experience somehow blow away pipe dreams. Of course those liberals that are really mentally ill never seem to recover or rehabilitate.

I know the New York Times has fact checkers

Yes. Their job is to check all the articles to make sure there aren't any facts.

I have had several dear friends over the years that I knew were die-hard “liberals”.
I loved them dearly.
Every single one, upon “discovering” that I was conservative, freaked out and immediately ended years-long friendships because of that.
Somehow, in the space of a few seconds, the person “they loved” [me] had transformed into some kind of horrible, dangerous, monstrous maniac.

[words like “fascist” and “Nazi” were not uncommon]

Now, I ask you.
Since I knew their political leanings and loved them still, which of us was truly the “liberal”?

Some wise sage once said “If you are young and not a liberal, then you have no heart. If you are old and not a conservative, then you have no brain.”

[roughly paraphrased]

The picture in my head of this woman at dinner parties just randomly screaming about partial birth abortions, Monica Lewinsky, Donald Rumsfeld and Condoleezza Rice is going to have me laughing all day.

Yeah, that was my favorite line too. Everyone knows that black ink pasta is so old millenium.

You will probably never read this since it’s been a while, but I had the exact same experience with a dear friend of over 20 years.

She was a huge liberal (actually, she was huge)and, of course, I always knew that as it was her life and her religion.

I had always kept a low profile politically because we both worked for a labor union.

I begged her not to continually talk politics to me and she had an inkling that we differed but when I finally told her frankly how I felt, she dropped me totally. That was it. She never spoke to me again.

Weird, isn’t it, who the tolerant ones really are.
