He can pick up a spare but can he pick up the state?

That was the question after Republican Mike Huckabee bowled 10 frames Sunday evening at Olympic Lanes on Milwaukee's South Side.

Sporting a little new color in his face and some sharp words for Republican officials who want him to get out of the race, Huckabee is again sloshing through the state after a detour to the Caribbean.

Huckabee's big mistake was proclaiming himself to be the Christian in the race and then, by his actions, not following through...........IMHO Romney has acted more the Christian than Huckabee.......

The longer Huckabee stays in......the worse he looks........

Isn’t it a pity that regardless of how hard Huckabee now drives, he’s on road to nowhere.

Not to me, he isn't.

What is a pity is people like you who want to preempt the voting rights of the rest of us, including millions in large states who have not yet voted.

Sorry to spoil your cynical party but Huckabee DOES represent a very large contingent of disgusted Republicans who know how much McCain hates Christian conservatives.

My vote in this primary is probably going to be the only vote I will cast for President in 2008. It means a hell of a lot to me and millions more like me....many of them having not yet voted.

Anyone who courageously stands up for what is right against a festering boil of wrong, such as John McCain, is NOT ON THE ROAD TO NOWHERE.

"Huckabee staying in the race gives the Republican Party the only means to measure how much conservative support they stand to lose......"

Huckabee is a populist, not a conservative. Those that are voting for him are cultural populists and many of them lean to economic populism.

Let's elect Huck and get a new New Deal.

Huckabee deserves credit for ‘staying in’ and giving
people a choice, when the rest folded.

When Duncan Hunter was in the race with 1% support, Huckabee was likewise wallowing in the single digits. It wasn’t Huckabee’s fault. Huckabee only got support very late in the game, after his good showing at the value voters conference and after Thompson let down the evangelical christians with his comments about his own faith and practice.

“”Huckabee staying in the race gives the Republican Party the only means to measure how much conservative support they stand to lose......”
Huckabee is a populist, not a conservative.””

McCain is better? Or Hillary, or Obama?

The Fair Tax is the most ‘conservative’ idea anyone has talked about this whole election, because the IRS, that administers the income tax / withholding, is the most oppressive, intrusive, socialist institution in our country.

Huckabee is an ardent, articulate supporter of the Fair Tax, and I believe he really “gets it”. It is the best hope on the horizon for giving power back to the people, and waking people up to the stranglehold the current tax system has on the people and the economy.

Right now McCain has just been ahead because of name recognition for most voters, and, up to now, splitting the conservative vote in the informed voters who are paying attention.

When most people get to know Mike Huckabee, they like him, and likeability is something we will really need in the fall, against either Hillary or Obama, or a ticket with both on it.

Don’t kid yourself that age and likeability won’t be a factor in the fall.

Huckabee granted a lot of clemencies, and some didn’t work out so well? Compared to McCain’s amnesty for millions and millions of illegals, as soon as we give him a chance. How many U.S. citizens are killed by illegal aliens every year?

I trust Duncan Hunter’s judgment on Huckabee’s commitment to seal the border. I don’t trust John McCain on anything.

Huckabee says that his most important issue is securing the border and deporting illegal aliens, and he signed a “No Amnesty” pledge. While he was a governor, he cut taxes and fess 90 times, and he proved that he’s pro-life, pro-gun rights, and anti-gay marriage. Which of these views is liberal?

Don’t know what will happen here in Wisconsin, but we’re fighting! And I predict a Texas victory.

Huck has identified himself as a populist. He has said that the GOP coalition is over and that he can create a new GOP populist coalition by convincing left wing economic populists to vote GOP.

Not likely.

The new ARG poll shows Huckabee within 4% of McCain in Wisconsin.

Here is a video that highlights Huckabee’s populism. His version is a conservative one.

I agree Huckabee is not a conservative, but he gives conservatives disenchanted with McCain a place to cast their vote.

I waited until tonight to respond, wanting to see the results from the Wisconsin primary first. McCain drew 54% of the Republican votes. Forty-six percent cast their votes elsewhere. That does not bode well for the presumed Republican nominee that would have to produce concrete evidence in less than 9 months to unite all factions that normally vote Republican.

“I agree Huckabee is not a conservative, but he gives conservatives disenchanted with McCain a place to cast their vote.”

To what end? What’s it going to get you, other than a certain degree of momentary mental satisfaction? It’s just a waste of time. Voting for the Huckster means nothing now, nothing at all. And the Huckster is verging on making himself look like a laughing stock now, like Don Quixote, tilting at windmills. A fool’s errand. He should have gracefully bowed out like Romney did, with some dignity. But the Huckster is too busy putting out his one-liners to notice that he himself is now a one-liner. The Huckster is a joke.

Gets me nothing, just an observation. Apparently it's not a waste of time to those voting for anyone but McCain. They are flying a danger flag that basically says their votes may not be there for McCain in November. We'll know November 8 if it was a waste of time, or a warning.
