Link to Jack Kemp's letter they are discussing on H&C.

An open letter to Rush, Sean, Laura, Ann, Mark, et al. by Jack Kemp

I don't think McCain is exactly Churchill, but I think we better make sure that we don't end up with Hillary or Hussein as Commander in Chief -- and the ONLY way to avoid it is to support McCain.

Conservatives stayed home and handed Congress to the Democrats. Are conservatives going to stay home in November and help elect Hillary or Hussein? Looks like if conservatives didn't exist, the Democrats would have to invent them -- they couldn't get elected without them.

What is it about McCain supporters that they think bullying us is going to get us to vote for him?

My county is dominated by radical, tire slashing, pipe-wielding union thug Democrats. Do you really think you’re going to intimidate me into voting for McCain?

Question...I read the entire article and could not find where Kemp told conservatives "to lay off McCain". Just for the sake of accuracy in titling articles on FR, can you tell me where in the article Jack said this? Thanks.

McCain is the one going around saying Hillary is a great candidate and that he is the epitome of a “true conservative”.

With all due respect, Mr. Kemp, Mr. McCain is the one picking the fights.

Hey Jack, you have your vote and you can do with it what you wish.

I have an equal vote to yours, but don't be so pompous trying to tell me what to do with my vote. You had your turn at bat and struck out in an embarassing babbling display during the VP debates.

Please, just fade away!

Jack Kemp was one of the WORST vice-presidential candidates of all time.

He was going up against Al Gore and let Al Gore tell him that he was OK, but that all of his friends were jerks, and Jack didn't say anthing in return.

He is unable to present his ideas clearly and concisely in an inspiring way.

He should be stuck away in a back room providing detailed economic analysis for candidates who are willing to fight toe-to-toe for what they believe in.

Nope. Won't support McCain.

And I won't support the RNC. No more money. If I give any donations, it will be directly to the candidates I support.

Kemp needs to retire down in Mexico, where he can be among friends.

Conservatives stayed home and handed Congress to the Democrats.

Republicans moved to the Left and abandoned conservatives.

Are conservatives going to stay home in November and help elect Hillary or Hussein?

Are conservatives going to once again "hold their noses" and step-n-fetchit for the GOP establishment? If Hillary or Obama is elected, that is NOT my problem.

Don't vote for McCain and expect a different result. He will be the same who has pushed amensty and assaulted the First Amendment and stuck his finger to the conservatives at every opportunity.

The GOP leadership knew the conservatives would crawl back.

This plays right in to their hands.

If the conservatives don't take a stand now, they may not have a meaningful chance to do so for decades.

Kemp is another “elitist” Republican on McCain’s team who wants amnesty for illegal immigrants to exist throughout the U.S. for cheap labor purposes. This is really all about allowing amnesty for illegal immigrants to happen asap, and I don’t see how this can be stopped with all of the remaining Presidential candidates all for amnesty for illegal immigrants. A truly conservative majority in the next Congress can successfully stop such things from happening, but what are the chances of that really happening? A socialized U.S. is really just around the corner. Pathetic!

California Prop 187, which terminated welfare benefits for illegal aliens, passed by some 60 percent of the popular vote but was later killed by the courts:

Former cabinet secretaries Bill Bennett and Jack Kemp attacked California Governor Wilson for supporting Prop. 187. They argued that immigrants are “natural Republicans” who support low taxes and family values, and that Wilson risks turning the Republican party into a party of protectionism and xenophobia. According to Bennett, “its assimilation, stupid”—meaning that the major problem is not the number or type of immigrant entering the US. Instead, Bennett argues that fears that newcomers will not integrate into American society result from “too many” programs such as bilingual education that, he argues, promotes multiculturalism.

.....”Former vice presidential nominee and McCain supporter, Jack Kemp, penned an open letter to these critics. And he wrote. quote, “you gave them your best shots and he took it like a man. Now as he head toward the nomination, I urge you to continue to be critical but to do so in measured ways that will not damage his ability to win in November.”.....

We don’t need to damage his ability to win in November, McCain already burned the conservative bridges behind him. Just wait till the Dems start showing ads of McCain singing bomb bomb bomb bomb Iran...real Presidential material!

McCain made a career out of attacking the current president for six or more years.

Did he do it out of principle? That makes him a liberal RINO Arlen Specter Republican.

Or did he do it so he could win the election this year?
That makes him a lying political schemer.

Either way McCain looks a lot less like Winston Churchill.
