What is funny is that President Bush said in his State of the Union years ago that Fidel would be gone before he left office.

Let us know when he falls down. And he can’t get up.

A source would be nice. For the time being, I’m gonna treat this as Castro rumor #4,856 of the last half-century.
To: Past Your Eyes
HAVANA (AFP) - Fidel Castro resigned Tuesday as president and commander in chief of Cuba in a message published in the online version of the official daily Granma.
“I neither will aspire to nor will I accept — I repeat — I neither will aspire to nor will I accept, the position of president of the council of state and commander in chief,” wrote the Cuban leader, who had been in power for almost 50 years.

His reunion with Che in hell cannot be far away.
Expect the media to outdo themselves in their maudlin tributes when he does kick off, oblivious to the effect this will have on the Democratic presidential campaign.

Castro’s sore point
http://www.charleston.net/news/2008/feb/18/castros_sore_point30989/
Ailing Cuban dictator Fidel Castro is taking a keen interest in the U.S. presidential elections. In August, he predicted “an apparently unbeatable ticket could be Hillary for president and Obama as her running mate.” Now, it seems, he is not so certain. What is certain is his hatred for Republican front-runner John McCain.
Castro has devoted the last three in a series of essays that he has been writing since illness forced him to hand power to his younger brother Raul Castro in July last year to an extraordinary attack on Sen. McCain. In the first article, published as usual on the front page of the official Communist Party newspaper Granma, Castro was responding to a statement Sen. McCain made when he was campaigning in Miami. Sen. McCain told Cuban exiles: “There’s a person I want you to help me find when Cuba is free, and that’s that Cuban that came to the prison camps of North Vietnam and tortured and killed my friends. We’ll get him and bring him to justice, too.”
Castro accused him of lying: “His accusations against internationalist Cuban revolutionaries ... are completely unethical.”
Well, McCain can’t be all bad, since Castro hates him so.

Good general purpose prayer, whether you like the guy or not. Leave it to His judgment.
