I just created a thread and tried to embed a video from youtube. It didn't work. Can anyone tell me what I did wrong? I did copy/paste the embed html language from the youtube site, but didn't get the link. Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
Here is the URL for the FR thread:

FR doesn’t allow embedded video clips. You can post a link, and that’s about it.

Why can’t you just post the YouTube link and let people who want to see click on the link?

The wise designers at FR have disabled any kind of embedded html. Imagine what it would be like (as I tried to do long ago) if we all started embedding self launching audio and pop-up windowes, for example. It would look and sound like a barnyard next to a loony-bin every time you loaded a busy thread.

I’m wondering how you can be a member of FR for almost eight years and not know this.

All you can do is post a link to it. Like this video for Kimchi Fried Rice If I don't have any sesame oil, can I use melted hog fat?

I don’t try to do it that often, though I could swear there was a time when I saw embedded links. If so, my tenure here at FR would be irrelevent.
Just wondering.

It would look and sound like a barnyard next to a loony-bin every time you loaded a busy thread. So you're saying it wouldn't change much?
I know that before they blocked embedding, threads got hacked a lot.

Well other than the 800 pixel wide images, and bold colored fonts now and then it hasn’t been too bad.

Remember the days when if you didn’t close the HTML tag on a FR post the formatting would continue for the next person who posted?

Bookmarking. Thanks.
I wanted the guys at work to see some of Richard Jeni’s stuff. I’d just learned he died last year. Very funny comedian.
Youtube’s blocked at the work PCs.
