Well it was a good mission which means nothing went wrong knowing how the media tends to make a mountain out of a molehill when it comes to NASA.
La Enchilada already started a thread Kevin.
This is a pretty cool web site. On it you can track the flight of the USA 193 Spy Satellite (the one the Navy plans on shooting down), and all the other satallites as well, including the Space Station, Space Shuttle and even planets. You are supposed to be able to put in you location and it will tell you what is overhead and when, but I’m still learning how to do that.

....thanks
Went there but embarassed to say cannot find where to put my location info.

Yep, I even said we could designate that one a LIVE thread about a couple of hours beforehand, but Kevin Davis probably started this one before seeing mine so no problem.
Checking with NASA TV mission coverage, 20 minutes to de-orbit burn.
14 minutes to de-orbit burn. Weather conditions remain “Go.”
Could this thread have sidebar placement in Breaking News? Thank you.
thanks Kevin
Atlantis passing over northeast coast of India; 7 minutes to de-orbit burn... the journey back to KSC begins.
Thank you for sidebar placement!! Hope someone joins me on this thread...:)
Space Shuttle Atlantis: COME ON DOWN!
Thanks for the thread.
Commander Frick reports successful de-orbit burn: Atlantis heading home.
Preparing for software transition and re-entry to earth’s atmosphere.
Prayers up.
Wake up, everyone. First landing opportunity is a “Go” and we are T-57 minutes from landing.
26 minutes from re-entry to earth’s atmosphere.
Hi La E and Kevin!
I’m here!
Fingers crossed!
Hi!!!..... I was trying to remember your FR name last night and couldn’t... welcome to the thread and prayer team. Perfect conditions for landing.
Atlantis now over the Pacific Ocean, Pilot Alan Poindexter firing auxiliary _________ units.
Dan Tani will experience gravity for first time in 4 months.
Anyone have any idea what time the shuttle will emerge from the Gulf of Mexico to cross the coastline? And what altitude that will be?
I have heard the sonic booms in the past, but I have never been able to catch sight of it overhead on landing.
Looks like an absolutely beautiful morning!
Check the link in post #17.
Now if the Navy were smart they would bring that spy satellite down and crash land it on Berkeley.
I have NASA TV on now from that link, but not sure of the altitude or speed for the last 300 miles.
Thanks for the NASA TV link. Good morning.
Hail Atlantis!
6 minutes to re-entry. Stay tuned....
Thanks
Are you not with us?
102 alt
16,000 mph
Are you watching / listening to real time commentary from the NASA TV link? Did you click on something from the main page? I seem to just have the US graphic up.
Thanks in advance
i can only get Windows Media player here at work and the feed is not coming through, anyone else with this problem???
I think Kevin blogs this on another forum...
Never mind, I’ve got it now.
I watching live NASA TV. The link in 17 takes you there.
I am getting audio fine.
Atlantis in a nose-hold position, re-entering earth’s atmosphere over Central America.
The altitude will probably be too great to see.
Shmokin'... It's hard to wrap my head around how very fast that is.
I know it!
Good morning!
Immense pressure on the vehicle as it re-enters earth’s atmosphere.
Descending at 470 ft per second, will roll to left in a few minutes to burn off speed.
Astronauts now feeling the effects of gravity again; for Dan Tani, first time in 4 months.
8:40 a.m. Atlantis is in entry interface, which means it is starting to encounter the fringes of the atmosphere. The friction with the thickening air slows Atlantis down before it starts its supersonic glide through the atmosphere on the way to Kennedy Space Center. Atlantis’ altitude is about 400,000 feet over the Pacific Ocean. Landing remains scheduled for 9:07 a.m. EST.
The crew has activated the aerodynamic surfaces of Atlantis’ wings and body flap and they are reported working and in good shape.
You know, I don’t really want to go to Florida for the theme park or anything...but I would truly love to go and see either the shuttle take off or land...
Good morning!
Prayers for the Shuttle and crew. I like that some of us still haven’t lost the sense of wonder and amazement at what a cool thing it is to fly into space and back.
Travelling 15,000 miles per hour, headed to pass over Central America. I erred earlier saying it was already over there.
Ditto, I would love to see a landing at Edwards... or a launch at Kennedy.
It's hard to even imagine how that must feel. Although I know they train for such things.
I got to see one of the Edwards AFB landings in the 1980s in person. It came in right over our heads. It was really something to see.
