The total lunar eclipse probably will be over by the time the moon shows up here. Too bad, we finally have a clear sky.

Unlike solar eclipses which require protective eyewear, lunar eclipses are safe to view with the naked eye.

DOH! Anyone here been moonblinded?

A great big coppery O in the sky, flanked by a star of kingship and a planet with a freakin’ halo. It’s a sign, people!

Southwestern Ohio (greater Cincinnati area) clear sky, and temperatures in the teens. Nearly 90% lunar eclipse at this point ... excellent viewing.

We be totalized! Beautiful evening here south of Seattle, just a few minor wisps of clouds to the East.

It’s not really very red yet, maybe mod-eclipse!

As an added feature, viewers may get the opportunity to watch a U.S. interceptor missile sail through the sky and blast a spy satellite.

Reporting in from SW Ohio (greater Cincinnati area)@ 10:48 eastern. Cold clear winter night ... observing the moon thru my 7x50 Fujinon wide lens marine application binoculars it’s coppery in color, beginning to lighten in the southeast quadrant.

It looks breathtaking from here in Indiana. Very red. we have bright, clear skies.

Isn't there a comet visible now as well?
