Clinton, seeking comeback, ridicules Obama
reuters ^ | Feb 20, 2008 | Steve Holland

Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton ridiculed rival Barack Obama as all talk and little substance on Wednesday, trying to slow the momentum that has given him 10 straight victories in the race for the party's U.S. presidential nomination.

The New York senator and former first lady sharpened her attack on Obama ahead of the March 4 Democratic contests in Texas and Ohio, which have become critical to her presidential aspirations following her losses on Tuesday to Obama in Wisconsin and Hawaii.

But support for the first-term Illinois senator, whose powerful "yes we can" speaking style has propelled him to the front-runner's position, continued to mount, with the 1.25 million member Teamsters union formally endorsing him on Wednesday.

His long string of victories put Clinton in the awkward position of telling supporters, in media interviews and speeches, "Don't give up on this!" and "This campaign goes on!" while her aides explained how she would close the gap with Obama by the time of the Puerto Rico contest in June.

Kind of a pot & kettle situation.

Has there ever been a worse slate of candidates running for president?

Sadly, I think you're right.

If this has proven anything, it's that mediocrity sells.

Which will, of course, encourage more mediocrity.

One of the difficulties our dear Hillary has is that it’s okay to attack Obama’s lack of record, but then one should begin to cite how you’ve had achievements and recognized successes in your public service while Obama has not. Of course that might be a real problem for Hillary as being First Lady does not qualify as achievement.

Her Response to Michelle Obama’s shameful quote:

The former first lady, questioned about the remark, did not criticize Michelle Obama’s comment but said: “I think we’ve all been disappointed in our country, but I’ve been proud of America on many occasions during my lifetime.”

In my view - EQUALLY SHAMEFUL.

I have made this point repeatedly with anyone I can talk to. I am 54 years old and I have to agree with you at least for my lifetime. And this applies to both parties. Yet, when I think it through, I can't for the life of me see how anyone would refuse to vote for a terrible choice with McCain given the other absolutely atrocious choices. Piss on anyone for voting third party this year. Take your "values" and shove them.

I’m rooting for Clinton to win the primary. I think she will be most likely to galvanize the moderate Republicans and Independents against the Democrats. If the Democrats do happen to win, I’d rather see the Clintons in office because they are so worried about their legacy. Hillary is the least likely Democrat to pull all the troops out of Iraq.

If she really gets desperate, she could try the “look at what happened to ______” routine, starting with Vince Foster, and finally ending with Ron Brown.

Hillary should also point out that when questioned on specifics, Obama just tapdances around the issue.

Hey chronic (hope you stopped smoking), here in CA when I had the chance to vote against Hill, I did (as a decline to state).

I believe Hill is beatable, but who knows what may happen with the Clintons?

Meanwhile, Obama is papier mache.

I echo your sentiment. Three snakes...how do you choose? Obama is all fluff with hope, change, hope, yes we can. Hillary was the inevitable president and scares the crap out of me (not to mention Bill back in the White House). And McCain is not a beautiful picture of conservatism. HOWEVER...as much as the bite of McCain will hurt, he is the only choice we have. Judges and the war on terror are too important to let Obama or Hillary get their hands on. We are so close on the war and judges issue that we just need to get the White House again. Do I trust McCain...not really...but he’s all we got.

He hasn’t done his spadework, she once said.

If we can believe the spin, then we may have to wait until June and the returns from Puerto Rico’s delegate selection. Is that a primary or caucus?

Anyway, at the end of the primary/caucus season, Billary will come out and say that none of that matters anyway, because the super-delegates, who they have now renamed automatic delegates, will make the decision. Many of the super delegates owe political debts to the Clintons, so it could turn ugly.

Good point. If this stupid a-hole woman had spent less time smearing GW and more time exposing her dipshit party-mate, she might have a little more oxygen left. But that's the way it is with degenerate skanks and hate-mongers--they incessantly shoot themslves in the foot.

Obama is a large stationary target and Hillary Clinton is too f*ing stupid to take aim at him.

Unfortunately, you’re probably right about McCain, meaning I have to revise my grouping of snakes to a copperhead (McCain), a cottonmouth (Obama),and a rattler (the Witch). McCain’s the copperhead because his bite gives no warning, will be painful and sickening, but probably won’t be lethal. Obama’s the cottonmouth because his bite gives no warning and can be lethal. The Witch is a rattler because she’s given plenty of warning and her bite can be lethal.
