A few days ago, the transcript I posted of Michelle Obama's remarks was the first hit you got when you googled phrases like "we have to fix our souls", but now you can't see it anymore:
GOOGLE - we have to fix our soulsIn fact, you can't see it even when you require that Google restrict its search to Free Republic:
GOOGLE - we have to fix our souls site:freerepublic.com
Michelle Obama - We have to fix our souls - our souls are broken [AUDIO & TRANSCRIPT]This thing must be hurting them badly if they've scrubbed it from Google.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1972093/posts
Get the word out.
Not surprising. Google is a moonbat company in the first place.
Google hits matches to FR content within about 15 minutes now but it isn’t so good for older searches anymore.
Have you checked Yahoo?
is this your first recognition that google, here in the us
just like the chicoms in china
engages in political censorship
of internet search results??????????
known to many of us from day one
Can you give me the exact URL you are using?
Again, I can't see it, even when I direct Google to use "site:freerepublic.com".
I bumped that thread.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1972093/posts?page=184#184
(Hope it helps.)
It does if you place the term in quotes:
By placing the words in quotes, Google looks for the exact phrase on a site.
Without the quotes, it returns hits from sites as long as all the words appear on the page.
“we have to fix our souls” site:www.freerepublic.com
I get more than 500 hits with this, many mentioning your screen name.
24 hits with
KayEyeDoubleDee “we have to fix our souls” site:www.freerepublic.com
1972093 KayEyeDoubleDee “we have to fix our souls”
gets me to a thread with a link to your post.
The first of those is actually the Youtube audio which I posted.
HOWEVER, the text of the transcript, which lives only at Free Republic, is what has been scrubbed from Google.
The point is that you can't search on audio at Google, but you can search on text, and the text [what you can actually search on] is what has been scrubbed from the Google database.
We’re all aware that, at this point in the week, paranoia can take over.
Take my advice: Start drinking heavily.
Sorry, the inner-city and the university are not America.
Actually, my point was that there seem to be more than enough Michelle Obama transcripts to worry about one of ‘em getting lost! :-)
Okay, this is the URL which you just posted:
http://www.google.com/search?sfae=off&q=%22we+have+to+fix+our+souls%22+site%3Awww.freerepublic.comThis is my thread:
Michelle Obama - We have to fix our souls - our souls are broken [AUDIO & TRANSCRIPT]I do NOT see my thread in the Google results to your search URL.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1972093/posts
Do you see my thread in the Google results to your search URL?
I listeded to a speech by Chikai Ohazama, who is heading up the Google Earth project. They plan to take over the world. But in a nice way.
Exactly - you can still get there by playing six degrees of Kevin Bacon.
BUT GOOGLE NO LONGER HAS ANY DIRECT LINK TO MY THREAD AT FREE REPUBLIC.
It's been scrubbed.
Obviously it was hurting them very badly.
Get the word out.
That’s cool:)
Don’t you realize placing a post inside a thread which references the same thread is like matter meeting antimatter?
You coulda blown up the whole universe!
Just be more CAREFUL next time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your thread with the transcript is right on top.
Again, I'm not talking about hits on the story.
I'm talking about the actual transcript which I posted at Free Republic.
A few days ago, that transcript was the #1 hit at Google.
Now I don't see it at all, even if I demand that Google limit its searches to Free Republic.
Interesting. When I put your title in quotes, it pulls up a lot of references but not your original article:
Just as a test, I did the same thing with a different article and it did appear as the fourth result.

Google doesn’t maintain a database of every link it’s ever seen. As Google’s spiders fail to find links to threads (they fall off the main page and/or the spider has to crawl too deep into the link tree to see the page), Google will abandon that information.
To Google’s robots, the page has essentially disappeared. I reckon any thread (give or take) from around the same time would also fail to show up.
I’d also like to note (and I’m not trying to be rude), FreeRepublic is put together in a way that makes it almost opaque to web searches beyond the first few pages of News links.
Well, if anyone needs it, here it is, at least the pertinent portion:
In 2008, we are still a nation that is too divided. We live in isolation
, and because of that isolation, we fear one another. We don’t know our
neighbors, we don’t talk, we believe our pain is our own. We don’t realize
that the struggles and challenges of all of us are the same. We are too
isolated. And we are still a nation that is still too cynical. We look at it
as “them” and “they” as opposed to “us”. We don’t engage because we are
still too cynical. ...
Americans are not in debt because they live frivolously but because
someone got sick. Even with insurance, the deductibles and the premiums are
so high that people are still putting medications and treatments on credit
cards. And they can’t get out from under. I could go on and on, but this is
how we’re living, people, in 2008.
And things have gotten progressively worse throughout my lifetime,
through Democratic and Republican administrations, it hasn’t gotten better
for regular folks. ....
We have lost the understanding that in a democracy, we have a mutual
obligation to one another — that we cannot measure the greatness of our
society by the strongest and richest of us, but we have to measure our
greatness by the least of these. That we have to compromise and sacrifice
for one another in order to get things done. That is why I am here, because
Barack Obama is the only person in this who understands that. That before we
can work on the problems, we have to fix our souls. Our souls are broken in
this nation.
Try again using site:www.freerepublic.com
But my point is that I was the only one who typed up the ENTIRE transcript.
There are many partial transcripts floating around [e.g. at Captain's Quarters], but I took the time [and, believe me, it was a long time] to type up the entire transcript, and to seed the audio around the internet, and now Google has removed my transcript from their database.
You just have to get the right phrase:
I Googled: obama “we have to fix our souls” transcript
And your post on FR came right up
Captain’s Quarters”We Have To Fix Our Souls” from Ed Driscoll.com This past September, I pondered if Michelle Obama was the next Teresa Heinz, whose soundbites would cause ...

Good lord! Anyone who would take the time to type a Michelle Obama transcript is a candidate for sainthood!
You need a vacation.
Links to my thread are at the very top, so that if you play six degrees of Kevin Bacon, you can get to my thread.
But my thread itself is nowhere to be found.
Right, they've scrubbed the original transcript, and now all you can see are links to the transcript.
Google is run by a bunch of liberals who feel free to post their favorites on their search engine. When I googled a project for my son to get documents on the atom bomb, there was some stuff on there that was someone’s opinion on how we were wrong to drop the bomb, etc. All I wanted was FACTS...Pick any topic and see what you find, its not good.
You're not popular anymore on Google, and you don't think that's fair.
That's OK. I'm very popular, and will check into it for you.
We'll meet up at recess.
No, as you just indicated, my FR transcript did NOT come up.
You see the partial transcript at Captain's Quarters, and then you see the audio at YouTube, but you do NOT see the text transcript which I posted to Free Republic.
No, the people at Google have removed the full transcript of Michelle Obama's remarks from their database.
If you go to Google, and search for that transcript, you can no longer see it.
You are being ripped off.
I googled this: “Michelle Obama - We have to fix our souls - our souls are broken [AUDIO & TRANSCRIPT]”
Which is the exact title that Google will link to. (Not just “We have to fix our souls”.
And sure enough - Number 1 hit was to Free Republic. But not what you think.

Geez!
What they are doing is censoring information.
Obviously this story is hurting them badly, and they want it removed from the public consciousness.
Google periodically flushes links from their database. They cannot main a database of search results that includes every page that ever existed on the internet.
Search.msn.com doesn’t bring up your page either. Maybe Microsoft is crawling with filthy liberal hippies.
Hi Jenny,
Not to start a lot of hate and discontent, but if you remove Michelle Obama from the equation, that speech could have been given by anyone.
In as much as the Americans in debt, the discussion of neighbors, etc., she is on target for a lot of people. The problem is that we do not know what their ‘fix’ is and therein lies the crux of the problem.
I, like many people are afraid that their style of ‘liberal’ facism is the fix that they want to impose upon us.
I've been here almost a couple of months now, and yours is one of the most on-the-point posts I have ever seen. Brevity is...wit.
My compliments.
Yahoo is your friend:
I noticed that Google has turned on Hillary and, buried Michelle to protect her. There isn’t any anti-Obama stuff up. Guess we now know who they are backing.
Chiner?
