When I first heard about the rising phenomenon of Senator Barack Obama, I didn't think too much about it. It is a story that you hear in one form or another every four years: the vibrant new Democrat who appeals to young audiences with lofty rhetoric about empowerment and hope. To be honest, I dismissed the whole thing as another short-lived pop phenomenon for the kiddies to write about in their MySpace pages.
Obviously, Obama's success over the past few weeks forced me to reassess this conclusion. Always willing to admit when I am wrong, I decided to read the press reports and find out what was actually powering Obama towards his party's nomination. Sure enough, there was a common theme in all the media accounts: Obama is winning with his powerful message of optimism.
Unfortunately, the reports were not very clear as to what Obama's optimistic message actually is. Finding out required a few hours downloading YouTube files and playing with my new video editing software. (To be honest, this whole project was mostly an excuse to do the latter.) In the end, though, I think I managed to piece together Obama's inspiring vision of America.
You can see the results of my efforts here. Be warned, however: it's not exactly a "shining city on a hill."
Difficult to get through this pile of garbage, POS video without a barf bag. “Crumbling schools”? “Lost homes”? I must live in a vacuum because I never see ANY of this unless I take a wrong turn onto ANY MLK Blvd in America. LBJ’s “Great Society” neighborhoods.
Pandering to the uneducated, spiral eyed Oprah followers is just so easy. For an America hating liar like Obama, it’s effortless.
“...Obama’s inspiring vision of America....Be warned, however: it’s not exactly a “shining city on a hill.”
I’ll watch the video later, but I think the above sentence requires a little patience on the ZOT button.
I may be a pessimist, but I kinda doubt you’re going to like the response you’re going to get on this CONSERVATIVE website.
Oh, I like the music too! (Did you by chance post on the debate last night that you were putting this togeter?)
“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name liberalism they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened. Norman Thomas, Socialist
...and he said it in 1927. Can’t say I have a lot of respect for Norman but he knew what would happen. Just my luck that I had to be in my prime when it happens. Sometimes I wish I were 90.
WATCH THE VIDEO!! It’s great. You too will be inspired.
That’s why it needs to be watched by every Conservative.
Just as I was literaly getting sick to my stomach listening to Candyman speak the other night (tax the rich, feed the poor, health care for everyone, etc.) it is important to see what this guy sees as the future for our country.
OK, my bad
I tried twice to watch it. Couldn’t make it halfway either time without gagging.
zipped forward...much better!
Very well done.
I do not think that very many FReepers were going to vote for Obama anyhow.
Where’s the beef?
U B genius! I love your video...and your choice of music!
