Cockroaches on tv?
Look up Penn & Teller cockroaches Letterman.
There's a clip of when they dumped a couple of thousand cockroaches on David Letterman.
Letterman said he wanted to be surprised, and he was.
I think they hired extra security to keep order in the audience, just in case.

I know exactly what you mean.
One very hot summer before I air-conditioned the place here, I had the windows open a night when a bastad the size of my thumb came flying through the window and landed right in the middle of the monitor.
I screamed so loud and shrill the people downstairs called the cops.

And yet we have to watch commercials for all kinds of gross stuff during the evening news. Hygiene products, commercials for erection pills with people sitting in bathtubs outside waiting for the right time to do the deed, you name it. The cockroach viewers got off easy.
