Pentagon questions Obama’s soldier story (Obama admits cocaine use and it shows)

WASHINGTON - The Pentagon on Friday tried to cast doubt on an account of military equipment shortages mentioned by Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, whose campaign team stood by the story.

In a debate with rival Hillary Clinton on Thursday evening, Obama said he had heard from an Army captain who served in Afghanistan and whose unit did not have enough ammunition or vehicles.

Obama said it was easier for the troops to capture weapons from Taliban militants than it was "to get properly equipped by our current commander in chief," President Bush

I find that account pretty hard to imagine," Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman told reporters.

"Despite the stress that we readily acknowledge on the force, one of the things that we do is make sure that all of our units and service members that are going into harm's way are properly trained, equipped and with the leadership to be successful," he said.

It doesn’t matter, if the media doesn’t report it, he didn’t say it.

You got it. This Lt. may be in some deep water if he wasn’t authorized to talk to the media as he’s done but then he maybe under direction from a sitting Senator to do so?

Wonder if it was a set up.

I was just thinking the same thing. My thought this sounded like a Clinton set up.

Was she smiling or smirking as he told the story?

There is a lot of wood to chop between now and November, and it won't be easy.

But the Democrats are not guaranteed to take the White House - because of stuff like this.

I only got to see the last 5 or so minutes of the debate. Even that turned out to be more than I could handle!

Why the bogus title about cocaine use? At best, this is sophomoric humor.

Anyone who makes statements to be used in the public arena for a political candidate loses an right to anonymity and becomes a public figure. This guy isn’t a whistle blower, he’s a political partisan.

Obama has done this in a way which is clever. If the charges turn out to be false, he can say that he didn’t say it was true but that someone told him it was true.

It still makes Obama look bad..

and I loved Hillarys story about the border fence running through a college campus ...George Bush was out there personally telling them where to put the fence

Funny thing is, on NBC evening news, DBM central, they actually said, that this incident of not having enough troops or weapons, while it may have happened, it was during training and NOT in Afghanistan! (Which means the Taliban part was completely made up.) But of course Brian says Obama is standing by the story, which is true otherwise.????

Of course they’ll stick by their story because he found their patsy that will tell the reporters whatever he wants and if there’s a slip then the reporters have got his back.

I feel the same way. Just as I would have been more than obliged to lend my sympathies to the Jersey Girls, once they became politically active (especially the way they did it) all my courtesy goes out the window.

The "campaign team" is standing by the story, however. And if he's spreading lies on the basis of hearsay, then that doesn't really speak well of him either. Of course, if someone's drinking his Kool-Aid, they'll worship him no matter what he does.

At times it's hard to decide which of the candidates I despise the most. I guess when I figure that out, then I'll know who to vote against.

I pray that BOZOS like BHO or HRC NEVER become the Commander-in-Chief.

Neither one of these Democrats have the slightest idea how be an EXECUTIVE all they do is "FEEL", "POLL" and "LEGISLATE" based on those FEELINGS & POLLS.

Command requires THOUGHT, deadly choices, more thought and a DECISION. These phonies will take a POLL before they make any command decision.

I just can't fathom a reality with either of these two leftists is the President of the United States!!

We have lowered the standards for POTUS so much, who really cares if the candidates admit to drug use (Osama), adultery (McCain) or covering up the sex crimes of their spouse (Hillary)?

If this country can re-elect a President who we KNOW used a cigar to sexually arouse a young woman right in the Oval office, maintaining a sexual affair with her for more than one year as a married POTUS, then who CARES about a homosexual encounter allegation using cocaine 20 years ago, or whether Hillary might be a lesbian, or whether McCain might have had an affair with a lobbyist years back?

This country deserves exactly what it gets in November, whoever ends up living in our White House. We have cheapened the process, and reduced the office to a joke. We’re losing W’s legacy of honor and respect in leadership, and from here, it’s all downhill.

The Captain made a fairly big indictment against the military and just because he appears to be backing down he should be forced to stop hiding behind the media anonymous source wall.
