Obama camp on defense on Michelle Obama big mouth
ME!

Posted on 02/23/2008 2:14:37 AM PST by Southerngl

My first vanity ever.

I was called last night by Zogby (boy I felt special!!)

After the usual 'how do you feel about candidates, blah blah blah' they snuck in the question "Are you familiar with Michelle Obama's statement about how it was the first time she was proud of her country" and of course the guy (who was really nice by the way) got an earful about all the wonderful things that has happened in several years. They also asked if it would affect if I would vote Obama and I said yes (even thought I didn't admit I wouldn't have voted for him anyway)

Alot of really odd questions and ALOT about spouses, including Bill. I threw in one Clinton was enough and the guy laughed. Not politely, but a real laugh.

I felt so special guys, I never have been polled before. Much less by Zogby. Not that they can always be trusted, but still. I felt actually grown up. (OH GOD, WHAT AM I SAYING!>!> Please, someone pass the keg quick so redeem my youth)

What? Every ten or so years we’re going to get a loud-mouth, scheming, “power-behind-the-throne” meddlesome first lady? First it was Rosalynn Carter, then Hillary Clinton and now Michelle Obama. Enough with these Eva Peron wannabe’s!!

I'm shocked that they even care.

BUT, I THINK THE REAL REASON THAT THE NYT SLIMED MCCAIN WAS TO GET MICHELLE "I'M FINALLY PROUD" OBAMA OFF THE FRONT PAGES AND OFF THE 24/7 CABLE NEWS CYCLE!... it worked.

My prediction of the year.

I've been saying the same thing. The Times moved Michelle Obama right out of the news cycle....for the moment.

She'll be back though, shes too bitter and too militant, to keep her mouth shut.

For the biggest part of this campaign she was portrayed as a behind the scenes lady, one who didn't like politics. We'll an audience can be addictive, and shes hooked. The conservatives best weapon against B. Hussein is Michelle Obamas militant mouth.

What does Christianity have to do with Obama?

Christianity has a lot to do with a concept called the Golden Rule or at least that is what I was taught. So someone making this statement:

If Obama has a low class loud mouth wench for a wife

Is despicable.

Michelle Obama’s thesis unblocked

http://isteve.blogspot.com/

So, it looks like Barack has had his vengeance on Michelle for calling him “stinky” and “snore-y.”

And she sure has some self-esteem issues, doesn’t she? I think that’s part of her appeal to the Oprah audience: her inflated but fragile ego. Oprah’s fans can identify with Mrs. Obama. People were always telling them that they weren’t smart enough either; and, yet, here they are, sitting around watching daytime TV. Who’s laughing now?

Hers was an affirmative action admission to Princeton. Even she admitted she didn’t have the grades non-affirmative action applicants had to get in. I think her words were: “My grades weren’t that hot.”

Dear Person,

Congratulations of being Polled, people generally are quite taken by someone wanting their opinion. In sales, I have made a career of asking people all sorts of information about their views and opinions, and they just open up with all sorts of information. That being said, you can guess that I do not do polls.

Getting to Michells-O's thesis and her words, much should not be made about how she felt then and now as I have observed a real underpinning of these same thoughts in the younger black-males that I work with. Most young Hispanics feel that all whites are racist, and the few that they meet that are not must have "mixed" blood.

The average young black males seems to suppress their inner feelings of being segregated by a white-society, and that even Hispanics are more accepted in the general society over the average black male.

These feelings from both of these groups will foster some very deep seeded anger at their current situation, and could explain why there is little to no cooperation within their communities with law enforcement, even if the crime was done by one of their own. But, this feeling of circling the wagons was also present in the immigrant communities of the last century and led to many protection associations that grew into gangs.

This is not a dissimilar situation than that which grew out of the "projects" and "streets" of Chicago with the "GD" (Gangster Deciples) and others, or the "Bloods" and "Crips" in LA. Though the Latino community has their own versions as does the Whites.

But returning to to Michelle-O's words, this woman has views not too dissimilar than that society of which she grew up in, and her words are really not as startling to hear if taken in the context of when and how she grew up.

I have generally found that the least racially aware individuals have been found in the GOP, and that the Dems seem to suffer from White-guilt for being born white, successful and with so many opportunities that are not seemingly offered to other ethnic societies. This is why these people flock to the Dems and are so passionate about liberal ideas and programs. They want to assuage their guilt with everyone else's money.

I would be surprised if Michelle-O didn't want to speak her mind; she's educated, literate and has her own passion. We do not have to agree with that passion, but she has a right to it. The question will be, if her husband wins the general election in November, will she turn out to be something between Jackie-O or Barbara-B, or, will she be a slightly different version of Hillary-C?

By the way, in closing. I voted early here in Texas, a straight ticket as I have for thirty-seven years; straight GOP. As the Texas ballot has all of the candidates, even those that have already pulled out of the race, I then voted a straight Conservative ticket by voting for Fred Thompson. Some would say that I gave my vote away or that it was a suicide vote. I voted my principles and convictions, what our votes are meant to be. I could not bring myself to "pimp" my vote by crossing the aisle and voting for Barrack, no matter how much I detest Hillary.

Old Patriot
Still voting my conscience.

I got polled back in the late 1980s concerning our nuclear strategic deterrence policy. The fellow was very knowledeable and asked tough questions. After he asked a technical question concerning Albania and its nuclear options, I figured the guy was a bored crank amusing himself or a Russian spy trying to pump me for information - and I know nothing, nothing about nuclear anything.

I hung up.

The definition of Christianity isn't "will accept anything". Do you remember the story where Jesus threw the money changers out of the Temple? He didn't "feel their pain" or empathize with them or accept their differences. He made a judgment and threw them out. I have to assume your position in life is not "to be a Christian" but to sanctimoniously attempt to use Christianity against believers.

When I go to the Encarta Dictionary and type in wench, I get a language advisory and then the second definition is:

an offensive term for a prostitute or a woman who is regarded as sexually promiscuous

When I type in despicable, I do not get a language advisory and get:

fully deserving of contempt

Looking up contempt, I get:

a powerful feeling of dislike toward somebody or something considered to be worthless, inferior, or undeserving of respect.

It is one thing to disagree with someone's politics and worldview, and OK to attack them on their beliefs, but unless you have some evidence that she is a prostitute, I think it is not too much to ask to not call her one.

I do not understand what you are saying. If someone called my wife a prostitute, I would call them on it. And, following the Golden rule, if I called someone else's wife a prostitute, I would expect the same.

Political disagreements are one thing, calling someone a whore is quite another.

calling someone a whore

Aha. Now I see what inspired your comment calling the original poster un-Christian...you think the word "wench" means "whore."

I'd suggest you call out the original poster on that point, rather than slandering him as un-Christian. He might not have meant the word the way you took it.

"Wench" can simply mean the opposite of lady (in the old-fashioned sense of "lady" meaning a gracious woman, regardless of her economic or social status).

Michelle Obama has amply demonstrated that she is harsh, negative, rude, and condescending. She lacks class in the sense that she is completely un-gracious. "Wench" might not be the word I'd choose for that kind of woman, but it isn't necessarily the wrong word.

For the record, I'm not real thrilled with Cindy McCain either. But for different reasons.

All I know is that my grandparents were quite Christian and if I would have called Michelle Obama a slut in front of Grandp, he would have knocked me on my ass.

I just would hope on FR that we focus on the issues and behaviors of the candidates and not personally slander them. Civility is a trait that no longer applies to this country. That is sad and I think it is partly because we have abandoned our Christian roots and beliefs.

From dictionary.com:

c.1290 wenche "girl or young woman," shortened from wenchel "child" (12c.), from O.E. wencel, probably related to wancol "unsteady, fickle, weak," and cognate with O.N. vakr "child, weak person," O.H.G. wanchal "fickle." The word degenerated through being used in ref. to servant girls, and by 1362 was being used in a sense of "woman of loose morals, mistress." The verb meaning "to associate with common women" is from 1599.
