Calling Dave Ramsey, Calling Dave Ramsey, the nation needs you now ...
Great graphic!
“Secure your retirement first. Then think about house and family.”
What if you starve/freeze to death before retirement age comes around?
What if you live to retirement and have none?
“What if you live to retirement and have none?”
The traditional answer is the family you raised will care for you. And of course there is Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. But on the whole I agree with Paul Harvey when he said “Retiring is just practicing up to be dead. That doesn’t take any practice.”
Feel like idiots. You probably are idiots.
That is to say, you could live like a king, spend like not tomorrow, go way deep into debt to fund your partying, travel and buying binge, then have the government bail you out in the end.
Instead, you are saving your money only be pay taxes that will be used to bail out the “smart people” who spent and got deep into debt. Your money will soon go to them.
Yep, you are an idiot. Welcome to the club. Nice guys finish last, that is for sure.
Hey, I’m an idiot to. Its better to follow your conscience and be able to sleep at night than to live well on ill gotten gains.
What profits a man if he gaineth the world but loseth his soul.

That’s the way I look at it.
One of my favorite verses ... keeps me in line.
You and your husband are members of a great generation of Americans, and I admire you. My dad hit rock bottom several times in his life, and pulled himself back up each time. His father died when he was born, leaving the family penniless. His mom died when he was young, after struggling to feed 3 boys. Somehow he and his brothers survived the Depression. My Dad's first wife died right after marriage. WWII came and my Dad joined the Army Air Corp. He managed to survive that and the Korean War, and went on to raise a family of 5 kids. Unfortunately he died when I was a teen but I learned enough from his example that I would make something of myself, and try not to be a burden to anyone else.
