A gunman accosted a man carrying a duffel bag containing nearly $150,000 in broad daylight Friday next to a New York City Starbucks coffee shop, leaving his victim empty-handed and bloodied, WNBC.com reported. Seton Ijams, 50, had just withdrawn the money from a Chase Bank when the assailant approached him from behind, pistol-whipped him in the head and dragged him on the sidewalk as he clung to the bag, police said. Police said the robber is between 25 and 30, was dressed in a black parka and black pants and is about 5 feet 9 inches tall, WNBC.com reported. Limousine driver Zafer Incekara, who witnessed the fight, said the gunman fired one shot at the victim before fleeing, but the bullet hit no one.

Can someone withdraw $150K cash on the spot like that? Probably a dumb question, but I deal more in Lincoln's and Hamilton's. :O)
What in the WORLD was the guy doing with 150K in CASH, walking around NYC?
‘Cause those Starbucks are expensive!
You kidding me?
In Vancouver BC downtown area, I could blindfold you, spin you around, make you point your finger and I’m 99% sure you will be pointing at a Starbucks.
Will the dude who robbed sue Starbucks (because we’re a lawsuit-happy nation now)?
There's something missing from that description, but I can't quite put my finger on it...
Is it common for someone to withdraw $150,000 in cash in NYC? Perhaps he was going to pay off a ransom.... or taking part in some black market transaction.
Another story said the victim was a music executive.... I’m going out on a limb and guess rap music executive.
Triple coconut almond liver latte with ketchup please.
That isn’t right. A person should be able to withdraw his money for whatever reason without a hmmm. He should have asked for the money privately though.
Something is obviously fishy here.
It is clearly abnormal for someone to withdraw and carry $150,000 in cash from a bank branch. Most bank tellers never see a withdrawal like that in their careers. Very odd.
And the assailant clearly knew who to hit, and when.
The last time a crook fired a handgun on that block in broad daylight was in the 1970s, if ever.
I wonder what it could be?
NYC is so safe though because only criminals are allowed to carry guns there.
I would have been headed for a race track, that would have been sweet trifecta investment cash.
Police should line up all the tellers and employees of the bank for the victim. See if he can identify the perp. Probably one of them (or one of their close friends or relatives). Somebody knew what was in that bag.
Something's really fishy here.../s/
As it turns out, he deals mostly with classical orchestras and Broadway musicians.
This is more likely related to unions or Russian mobsters than rappers.
And yes, it is unheard of for anyone - even in NYC - to withdraw that much from a bank account in cash.
You wire that kind of money, you don't walk around with it.
probably DNC walk-around money...
;^)
Most banks don’t have that much cash on hand. Generally you have to make arrangements ahead of time to get a cash withdraw like that or wait awhile...
Dumb move obviously...
