One wonders how the United States has come to the brink of nominating and probably electing someone with almost no experience as either an executive or national legislator, replete with ratings and rankings that suggest he will be about the most liberal Presidential candidate since George McGovern --snip--Instead, we are disliked by everyone, and for good reasons. The fact that Iranian mullahs, the House of Saud cousins, Hugo Chavezs communists, European mullahs, and the Arab street dont approve of America says more about us than it does them. The solution is to follow more the dictates of European Union and United Nations, where sophisticated internationalists can guide us through the maze of global power, instructing mostly ignorant Americans how and why we tend to cause so many of the worlds problems

Our military is not so much an offensive force, designed to defeat and kill our enemies, that needs support and constant honing; better to see it as a large social organization that we must look at in terms only of proper rotations, health care, and benefits. We are to support the troops not in the sense of doing everything we can to ensure they win, and gain the proper recognition for their courage and sacrifice, but rather in consideration of their victimhood, offering proper sympathy and remediation for the defeat in Iraq, the unwise use of their skills, and the needless loss of their lives. This Victor Davis Hanson has no wise thoughts or experience, either. He'd rather that our military be a social organization doing the bidding of the United Nations. Idiot.

VDH is one of the best conservative thinkers of this era.
He was pointing out how Obama will do things, which is the same as any liberal pretty much does.

about the most liberal Presidential candidate since George McGovernPleeease!! Keep it under your hat just a few more days. We don't want another Howard Dean to slip through our fingers.

I think you need to re-read this article by VDH.
Perhaps, even a dozen or so times in order that you may comprehend it.

Feelings are more important than facts—at least until the facts bite you on the bottom.
To: Seeking the truth
some people need the direct approach.
Obama is inexperienced and a liberal. Inexperienced people and liberals are bad for America. Therefore, Obama is bad for America.

Welcome to the age of Oprah where feel good-isms take precedence over thought and experience. Yeah, well. It won't last long, believe me.

Welcome to the age of Oprah where feel good-isms take precedence over thought and experience.
Which reminds me:
I've written a book. I'm thinking about calling it "Me, Myself, and I". It's probably going to be about something, perhaps "hope" and "change". It's going to be, of course, about "me, and myself, and I". I don't have much content written yet; in fact, other than the title and the expected content of "hope" and "change", I don't have anything written yet. But, I'll be thinking up content after I sell the book. But, I want people to buy my book before I fill it with content. I'll be learning about the content after I get the "money" and I will write about my experiences in selling the book and getting the money.
Now, since Oprah is well-known for helping to sell books, and making the authors famous and even wealthy, I know that I'll do very well with my blank book. If Oprah can help to sell the "empty suit" candidate, then I'm pretty sure that she'll be just as successful in turning me into a success.

BARF needed? On a VDH essay? Are you nuts? Try reading it first before commenting. VDH is spot-on, as usual.

I think there are too many people who aren’t noting that there is a huge amount of sarcasm in this piece. Hansen isn’t one of ‘them’. He undoubtedly can think of many times during his adult life when he was ‘very proud’ of America.

I know registered Democrats who are very conservative. There are a lot reasons one might be a registered Democrat and not be a liberal.
I don’t like it either, but McCain seems to be our horse.
