Jon Stewart's Oscar monologue

... Oscar is 80 this year, which makes him now automatically the frontrunner for the Republican nomination. You have to admit, this is a huge election. An historic election. So much excitement. For the first time in so many years we dont have an incumbent president or an incumbent vice-president. The field is wide open. Have you all had a chance to examine all the candidates, study their positions and pick the Democrat youll vote for? Democrats do have an historic race going. Hillary Clinton vs Barack Obama. Normally, when you see a black man or a woman president an asteroid is about to hit the Statue of Liberty. How will we know its the future? Silver unitards, that cant be all? You have to give Barack Obama credit, hes overcome a great deal. Not just hes an African-American. Barack Hussein Obama is his name. His middle name is the last name of Iraqs former tyrant. His last name rhymes with Osama. Thats not easy to overcome. I think we all remember the ill fated 1944 presidential campaign of Gaydolf Titler. Its just a shame, Titler had so many good ideas. We just couldnt get past the name. And the moustache. But, are you ready to have a wonderful show ladies and gentlemen and welcome back to this town? Im delighted that youre here. Were going to have a great night.

That’s actually pretty funny. I don’t mind comedy by liberals, as long as it’s funny, which it often isn’t.

I saw a Jon Stewart clip the other day. Pic of Shrillary in the background, and his comment was "where boners go to die".
Can't stand Stewart, but that was funny.

I alwas thought Stewart was funny and he occasionally skewers the left. He's not going to change my mind so I can watch him secure in my conservatism.
I never laughed so hard with his coverage on Zell Miller challenging Crissy Matthews to a duel.

I stopped watching award shows back in the 80’s when Richard Lewis started ragging on President Reagan during an Emmy show.
The libs always want to turn these shows into a political platform.
Haven’t watched any since.
Better for it too, I think.

I never watch the Oscars because it’s just one big liberal circlejerk. UGH.
Stewart’s comment about “which Democrat you’re going to vote for” was funny, though. He unintentionally exposed how narrow-minded the Oscar folk really are.

I’m with ya. Stewart can be quite funny at times - his fake “America” textbook was a riot, especially the Political Campaign staff. I lost it when he went on the tangent about pollsters requiring Sodium Bicarbonate. YOU MUST HAVE SODIUM BICARBONATE!

There’s good political humor and there’s nasty political humor.
I remember HBO’s Not Necessarily the News and boy were their Reagan jibes hilarious! I could imagine the Gipper himself chuckling.
Their house specialty was splicing actual news footage with their antics in a seamless fashion. One that had me in stitches was this diplomatic pow-wow which had Reagan receive the guests at the door to this house where the event was being held. It was at night and the NnTN editors had ominous music and thunder dubbed in. Reagan would receive each guest then shut the door. NnTN then dubbed in a horrible shriek each time. Implying that he had killed them, etc. It was an absolute scream.

I liked Nixon but always thought Saturday Night Live’s Nixon sketches were hilarious. They were well thought out and witty.
Now they just basically say “Bush sucks. Aren’t we the funniest thing you’ve ever heard for saying that?” No, you’re not even close.

Now they just basically say Bush sucks. Arent we the funniest thing youve ever heard for saying that? No, youre not even close. Yep. Even up to the '90s, political humor was actually funny. Do you remember that great SNL skit with Phil Hartman playing Reagan? Befuddled, gentle soul in public (like meeting Girl Scouts), then Decisive, Brutal Man of Action when the doors were closed!
It's really only since the '60s hippies emerged from their rocks in the early '00s that political humor has been saddled with a totalitarian Leftist fascism that is anything but funny.
