Who Will Tell Hillary?
Washington Post ^ | February 25, 2008 | Robert D. Novak

Posted on 02/25/2008 2:24:09 AM PST by kingattax

Even before Sen. Barack Obama won his ninth straight contest against Sen. Hillary Clinton, in Wisconsin last Tuesday, wise old heads in the Democratic Party were asking this question: Who will tell her that it's over, that she cannot win the presidential nomination and that the sooner she leaves the race, the more it will improve the party's chances of defeating Sen. John McCain in November?

In an ideal though unattainable world, Clinton would have dropped out when it became clear even before Wisconsin that she could not be nominated. The nightmare scenario was that she would win in Wisconsin, claiming a "comeback" that would propel her to narrow victories in Texas and Ohio on March 4. That still would not have cut her a path to the nomination. But telling her then to end her candidacy and avoiding a bloody battle stretching to the party's national convention in Denver might not have been achievable.

The Democratic dilemma recalls the Republican problem, in a much different context, 34 years ago, when GOP graybeards asked: "Who will bell the cat?" -- or, go to Richard Nixon and inform him that he had lost his support in the party and must resign the presidency. Sen. Barry Goldwater successfully performed that mission in 1974, but there is no Goldwater facsimile in today's Democratic Party (except for Sen. Ted Kennedy, who could not do it because he has endorsed Obama)

From the article posted one back...

The first rule of politics is, "Never count out the Clintons." Their political conglomerate, Clinton Inc., is like Glenn Close in that bathtub scene in the movie "Fatal Attraction": It always comes back to life a second or third time. Polls, momentum and a string of losses tell the story of Hillary Clinton's troubled candidacy -- but her history, tenacity and character tell another tale.

I think there are surprises to come, and the dem media tools are getting nervous. They know that Clinton is capable of smearing Obama so thoroughly that she will hand McCain what he needs to bash Obama, while McCain can honestly say "Hey, a DEMOCRAT brought all this stuff up."

I am still convinced the Dems will win it all this year, but not so sure as I was a year ago.

Obama has come within single digits in Ohio.....Hillary is going to need to win by 65-35 in both states just to stay even with delegates.

This is premature. The Evil One is polling well in Ohio and Texas.

She has gone from double digit leads to being equal with Obama in Texas and only 7 in front of him in Ohio.

She needs to win by blowouts to save her candidacy, which she won't.

The only question is will she drop out or keep going to the Convention.

I think she takes it to the Convention and destroys the Democratic Party.

So, what happens if Mrs. Clinton wins by just a little bit in Texas and Ohio? Is she going to bow to the common wisdom and admit that she did not win by enough to attain the nomination? Or is she going to claim a huge momentum-shifting victory and vow to fight on to the Convention and beyond?

Anybody who expects Mrs. Clinton to accept the “She didn’t win by enough” argument is deluding themselves.

But I like it when Democrats delude themselves. It makes them easier to beat.

"I think she takes it to the Convention and destroys the Democratic Party."

Thats the only scenario I see that a clinton would take also.

To the Beast and her HINO, there is no such thing as whats good for the party, it's only what they can do to win.

I hope they split the dims beyond recognition.

Keep in mind that Obama’s totals in almost every primary have been 10-15 points higher than what the polls had indicated.

That’s because most of the “yutes” voting for Obama are not easily reached via land lines to take the polling calls.

That is what I am hoping for as well. She will try to get the super delegates and add the Florida & Michigan delegates as well. That will have the loonie fringe rats up in arms at her and the DNC.

She needs to win by blowouts to save her candidacy, which she won't.

That's if you just look at the totals of elected delegates. All she really needs, IMHO, is to eke out wins in Texas, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. Those wins would give her enough credibility to go to the super delegates who are beholden to her, but may not have pledged to support her, and convince them to support seating the present, illegal under DemonRat rules, Michigan and Florida delegations. Then she'd have a slim lead in elected delegates and be able to claim some fake legitimacy in grabbing the nomination. That, of course, would cause the Obamamaniacs to scream "FOUL!!" and litigate to overturn the seating of the Michigan and Florida delegations, ripping the party apart. We can only hope for that joyous outcome.

As predicted by Wikki Nostradamus

A Tournament of Death

Algore to the rescue! For the Planet! The Party and some Payback!!!

Flash Gore begins the next ordeal — a fight with “the Great Beast of Arkansaw”. Flash Gore is given a small dagger to defend himself against an orangopoid, a huge furry one-horned beast. The creature jumps on him, and for once, Gore is unable to best his opponent. Every move he makes is countered. Soon, the beast has disarmed Gore, scratched his face, and has him on the ground, struggling for breath...

Princess Rodham bravely grabs a spear and dashes into the arena, handing the spear to Gore and telling him how to kill the beast...

To be Continued....

Orangopoids - Flash Gore Wiki - a Wikia wiki

http://flashgordon.wikia.com/wiki/Orangopoid

Orangopoids are huge, ape-like beasts native to Arkansas. Orangopoids somewhat resemble the monkeys of Earth — at least, more than the Monkey men do — but they have a sharp horn growing out of the top of the head.

I listened in on last Wednesday's news media conference calls by Clinton campaign managers Mark Penn and Harold Ickes in the wake of her Wisconsin drubbing. Incredibly, they were hawking the same plagiarism charge that had just proved ineffective. Clinton herself raised the bogus issue again at Thursday night's debate in Austin and was rewarded with boos from the Democratic audience.
