Police say suspect has seven prior driving convictions, including two for drunken driving, even though he is apparently in the United States illegally.
Pittsfield Township police said an illegal alien with a long history of driving violations, including two prior drunken driving offenses, was arrested after fleeing the scene of a car crash that sent three people to a local hospital over the weekend.
The suspect, a 25-year-old Mexican national, has a driving record that dates back to 2002 in Michigan, even though he is apparently in the United States illegally, police said.
Officers responded to the Michigan Avenue and Carpenter Road intersection just before 10 p.m. Saturday and found three injured people in a heavily-damaged mini-van, said Sgt. John Belknap.
The driver, a pregnant 27-year-old Pittsfield woman, said she was westbound on Michigan and proceeded through the intersection with a green light when pick-up truck on Carpenter Road suddenly turned and struck the van head-on, reports said. When she and another passenger approached the truck to talk to the driver, the pickup sped off despite heavy damage, reports said.
All three occupants of the van, including a 7-year-old boy, were transported to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital with what are believed to be minor injuries, Belknap said.
A few minutes later a nearby motorist passed a speeding pick-up and noticed it was trailing smoke, fluids and debris. He then saw the mini-van about a mile down the road and turned around, reports said. He followed the debris and fluid trail to the Ridgewood Apartments and called police.
Officers found the vehicle, which was still smoking, parked near the rear the complex and arrested the 25-year-old driver as he was trying to crawl under the car parked in the next spot, reports said.
The man was bleeding from his hands and mouth, was highly intoxicated, and had defecated on himself, reports said.
The suspect did not speak English and could not balance on his own. His cousin, a resident of the apartment complex told officers the man is an illegal alien and was drinking that night. Due to his injuries, officers could not issue a breathalyzer test, reports said. The results of blood tests taken when the man was treated at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital were not available this morning.
Officers learned the man's driver's license had been expired, suspended, denied and revoked for seven violations dating back to 2002, reports said. Two of the violations resulted in drunken driving charges.
The man faces arraignment today at the Washtenaw County Jail for multiple driving violations and criminal charges including leaving the scene of an injury crash, Belknap said. Immigration officials were also notified of the arrest.
It's too bad the leadership in D.C. and the co-conspirators that run businesses and corporations are not being held criminally responsible. They are directly responsible for forcing this chaos and violence on America.

That innocent family would be dead if they were not driving a mini-van...another good reason that U.S. drivers buy big vehicles. At least they and their children have a chance to survive in a crash with a drunk illegal alien. You don’t have that in a Prius.

That’s the reality wherever there is a large population of illegals from Mexico. The death and destruction they sow is staggering.
Straw man argument and you know it. The 17-year old you mention was an American citizen, born and bred. On wshat grounds would you kick him out of the country? He is guilty of DUI and killing innocents, and he will spend many, many years in prison for that, and rightfully so. The illegals who kill American citizens should not be here in the first place, and if they were kicked out of the country or stopped at the border from entering then they could not have been in the position to kill the innocents they killed.
Look at it this way, as an analogy: A person is born with a terrible disease that eventually kills him. If, on the other hand, he had not been born with that disease, but was exposed to it by a carrier who entered the country illegally, and should not have been here in the first place, then it stands to reason that he would not have contracted that disease from the person here illegally, and would be alive and well today unless he was exposed to the disease by someone who WAS here legally. However, persons coming here legally must pass a medical exam to ensure that they are NOT bringing in diseases.
The point being that the one who exposed him to it in the analogy was here illegally, and if that person had been prevented from bringing the disease into America than the victim would not have contracted the fatal disease from him.

I got rear ended by a drunk a few years ago while sitting at a red light. The people following the drunk that hit me said he was traveling around 60 when he hit me. They had been following him for several miles.
If I hadn’t been in a large car (94 Buick Roadmaster) I would not have survived. The guy was from Canada and trying to get a settlement from his Canadian insurance was like pulling teeth. He was driving a large Mercury station wagon and it was totaled. My car had over 5000 dollars worth of damage but I was able to drive it home! (bent frame, etc.AAA fixed it up like new but my neck still hurts!!!!
