We're going to beat Obama
Modern Conservative ^ | Christopher Cook

No, seriously, we really are.
By Christopher Cook

We Republicans and conservatives have been nervous of late, and rightly so.

First, we had the prospect of Hillary Rodham Clinton, which was unnerving enough. But then, something worse came along: Barack Obama.

Barack Obama is as much of a leftist as HRC, if not more of one. He's as much of a statist as she is.*

But he's more personable, more popular, more friendly, more affable. At least with HRC, we could run against her baggage as well as her positions. We could count on the American people seeing her generally distasteful persona and factoring that into their electoral calculus.

But this Obama fellow is charming, fresh, young, handsome, and he can deliver an inspiring speech.

He's driving crowds wild and raising scads of money.

He is bringing out NEW young and NEW black voters in droves...and new voters are the best kind for a candidate to get.

The media have gone head-over-heels for him, and it's only going to get worse.

Obama is scary. Very scary.

And we can beat him. Possibly even in a landslide.

Obama is a leftist. The American people don't like leftists.

FDR managed to trick the people, because folks didn't know as much about leftism and socialism as we do today.

Truman and LBJ first ascended to power as the result of the death of presidents. LBJ had the added advantage, at least at first, of a particular moment and mood, which helped him win his election. Kennedy ran to the right on several issues, and...

Obama is portraying himself, quite effectively, as a sort of secular messiah whose going to show us all the way....to somewhere. But his leftists politics are showing us the way to something far better...the path to his defeat...

The article underestimates the stupidity of a populace that nearly elected an openly traitorous, supremely arrogant, devoid-of-charm, anti-American liar in the last presidential election.

Simply ask Obama that in order to pay for his multi-trillion dollar social entitlement programs is he prepared to make a determination that anyone having in excess of 1 million dollars in liquid assets is considered to be a Have and the Haves will help out the Have nots by relinquishing everything in excess of this 1 million dollar liquidity to the federal government so that the money can be used to sponsor these programs to help the have nots.

Is that radical?

This is simply the easiest and best way to avoid any new taxes in fact Oprah alone will be able to Feed all of the Poor in the U.S. with her excesses.

Maybe then these great spenders of others wealth will really “Feel the Pain”

Right now Obama is the "flavor of the month" with the extreme left-wing crowd. Which is good for American because it has helped eliminate from contention a shrill hag who would have run a more formidable (and annoying) general campaign.

The only bummer is that we don't have a Ronald Reagan (or we'd be talking 50-state sweep). But even so, the GOP victory this November should be by a comfortable electoral margin.

It will only make a difference if people hear about it and care about it. I see neither happening now. Obama is a rock star. The fact that’s he’s an empty suit Fabian socialist doesn’t matter to the electorate when it’s in love with star power. Why should he say anything specific about his policies and plans when he’s getting more mileage out of women crying and fainting at his rallies?

If McCain wins, it’ll be close. I’m not seeing any of the blue states going red merely because Obama is the Democratic candidate.

If the economy goes south, people will be voting for the false messiah. Bank on it.

We’ve become a nation more interested in security than self-reliance.

Obama is doing very well in part because Democrats don't like Hillary.

I mean, they really don't like her.

Once she folds the tent, I expect the air will go out of the Obama balloon.

Reagan is dead and he isn't coming back.

I see McCain winning all of the Bush states (even Ohio, albeit narrowly), and adding to his column Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Hampshire. Obama takes the NE (with the exception of New Hampshire), although NJ and CT may be close (but Obama will still win). Obama will also take WA, OR, and CA.

Yup. Right in one.

Obama should not be underestimated. BUT - his "supporters"....young people, minorities, the radical left in general....don't vote. And, it's hard to maintain this peak that he's having right now for another 8 months.

Hillary! still is not out yet. I think that she may not get the nomination AND she will see to it that Obama is not elected president. Why? Because a run for Hillary! in 2012 is not out of the realm of possibility....but only if a Dem is not in the White House. Unless a plum job is in the offing for her or Bill (Sec Gen of the UN? SC Justice Clinton?)....I can see her going nuclear on Obama.
