Al Frankenstein
American Spectator ^ | 25 feb 08 | Nicole Russell

Al Franken is a serious comedian. He has sincere intentions to better the lives of Minnesotans. Some locals are even starting to believe this. A Rasmussen poll released last week showed Franken with a slight lead over incumbent Senator Norm Coleman, 49-46. That's good news for Franken, but he still has serious problems that he must overcome to unseat Coleman in one of the three most watched Senate races in the country.

Franken has enjoyed a reputable career as a Saturday Night Live writer and actor, authored several bestselling screeds, and hosted the flagship radio show on Air America. Though he hasn't yet received the official endorsement of the Minnesota Democratic (Farmer-Labor) Party, he probably will. The satirist's entertainment connections have earned him millions in Hollywood donations. These are not his problems.

This is: With nine months to go before the election, Franken must prove that he's credible. He has never been involved in serious civic engagements or held elected office, either in Minnesota or New York, where he lived for almost 40 years before he moved back to his home state to pursue public office

"Al Franken is a serious comedian."

That's odd -- because I can't recall him ever saying anything that was funny.

Norm Coleman needs to do a lot of fundraising to finance that sort of opposition research however. He’s got a tough battle if his money raising efforts don’t pick up. Can you imagine Al Franken as a US Senator?

Just as much as I can imagine B. Hussein Obama or the Hildebeast being POTUS.
My God, what has happened to the country I once knew.

Al was smart. He made all of his comments on Air America slow, tedious, and boring. They are so amazingly dull that you simply can’t make them provocative in any way. Before you realize it’s all communist BS, you fall asleep.

I don't know either.

We fled Minneapolis in 2004. We were surrounded by libs that elected Keith Ellison, first Muslim in Congress.

I cry for this country. (sigh....)

Jesse ran out after one unhappy term. I predict that if Franken wins, it will be a long unhappy term for such a partisan who will have to work within the rules of the Senate.

He's a hard-core Leftist and his idiotic policies will do a lot more harm than good.

And no, I don't give a rats arse what his 3rd Grade teacher thinks of him.

Franken is a vile, filthy vermin. I cannot believe people could even consider giving him a shot to make any decisions for them.

Coleman needs help in this one, I agree, and have earmarked funds for him. Franken would be a disaster in the Senate, no matter who’s president. It’d be like having Michael Moore with a seat at the table.

I think that’s what the author is saying. He tries to be funny but comes across as ‘serious.’

The difference though is that Jesse - as the guv - had to actually take responsibility for the administration of the state. As a senator, Al wouldn’t have to take responsibility for anything.

The ONLY thing he would have to make an effort towards is getting reelected.
(Oh - that, and not acting like the buffoon that he is)

My 2 cents...
