A Texas state Capitol employee who police said wanted to go in the building Friday before a rally by presidential candidate Barack Obama threw a bowl of egg salad at a U.S. Secret Service agent who denied her access, according to an arrest affidavit.
Tracy Firsching, 47, is charged with assault on a peace officer, a third-degree felony for which she faces up to 10 years in prison.
According to the affidavit, Firsching started to go around police barriers when she was stopped by Secret Service agent Brian Sanders, who told her that she could not go in the secured area without an escort.
The affidavit said Firsching told Sanders that, Youre going to have to arrest me and attempted to go past him. Sanders grabbed her by the arm to turn her around when she threw a plastic bowl of egg salad at him and struck him in the face with the bowl, the affidavit said.
According to the affidavit, Sanders received a scratch that was red and visible from several feet away during the incident.

"Tracy Firsching, 47, is charged with assault on a peace officer, a third-degree felony for which she faces up to 10 years in prison. "This sounds rather severe for the crime, except in cases involving egg salad which oughta be life with no chance of parole.

Sanders received a scratch that was red and visible from several feet away during the incident.Which he can parlay into early retirement, a political career and a bid for the Presidency.

Depends — was it real mayonnaise or Miracle Whip? That should make a big difference at sentencing.

ANY assault on a Secret Service agent should draw a heck of a long sentence. If random PITAs are allowed to get away with a slap on the wrist for this sort of thing, they’ll be doing it constantly, diverting Secret Service officers’ attention away from serious threats to the people they’re protecting. It could easily be used as a strategy by serious threats. Incite a bunch of stupid college kids to engage in some “harmless civil disobedience” by doing things like this, distracting officers while the serious threat successfully proceeds with his/her plan, thanks to the help from the unwitting college kids.
To: Reagan79
Just like the Pharisees & law lovers who tried to deny access to Christ. Shameful! Huh?
This officer did the job he is paid to do, and has sworn to do, and that makes him a Pharisee?
A law enforcement officer should be a "law lover". It's his job.
Your comparison between the civil law and the Pharisees' perverted interpretation of the Law of Moses is entirely baseless.

The potential sentence would be somewhat stiffer, except that egg salad doesn’t become really deadly until it hits the digestive tract...
To: TornadoAlley3
I don’t think the Secret Service agents get a preference as to who they are to protect and serve. If there were to be choosing by the Secret Service, from what I gather Hillary would be going it alone.

In the Dem convention riots of 1968, most of the rioters were "useful idiots." There were some plants who ensured a violent confrontation with the Chicago police department, and then strategically withdrew to let the idiot college students take the beatings.
You're correct. The "harmless" disobedience is the beard for the more violent and dangerous actions.

But I’ve had ‘em and I do love ‘em!
The oysters were from off Chincoteague Island, VA. They were just amazing.

"ANY assault on a Secret Service agent should draw a heck of a long sentence."But we sure did not see such a sentence give to a certain double minority type person who shoved a cell phone into the chest of LEO in Washington DC did we?
I wonder which of the minority cards kept her out of jail.
All that being said, people in government seem to be in a different class than the rest of us. I had a run in with a US Senator's security thug once when he tried to prevent me from entering a hotel elevator. I told the JBT that the Senator was just a public servant and pushed my way past him and took the elevator to my floor along with the JBT. He looked like a deer in the headlights that a peon like me would dare question the ruling class.

One can never be too careful... Part of the difficulty is that there are some FReepers who would post just such a comment, with no sarcasm intended. It has become quite challenging to discern without knowing the poster. :-(
Perhaps a personal policy of "it's sarcasm until proven otherwise" would be prudent.
