RENO, Nev. — A small group from a Kansas-based church that protests at the funerals of U.S. soldiers faced off Saturday night against more than 150 counter-demonstrators outside a memorial service for a Reno woman killed by a serial rapist.
The tense standoff during a fierce snowstorm ended peacefully when three female anti-gay protesters associated with the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kan., were escorted away from the Reno-Sparks Convention Center in a police van, Reno police Sgt. police Sgt. Chris Lange said.

Actually, it’s just a moonbat family. Of their roughly 70 members, almost all are members of the Phelps family. And given the size of the family, it seems they can’t even convert all their own kids.

I had followed this case hoping against the odds that this innocent young woman would be found safe, knowing she wouldn’t. And then it was announced that she had been found dead.
Honestly, if I had been at this funeral one or more of those folks would have had to defend themselves against me. And I would have gladly gone with the police after I was done.
I’d imagine the man who killed this young woman got a real kick out of this group adding insult to injury to this young woman’s family and friends.
I guess protesting at a young child’s funeral would be worse, but only by a millimeter.
Judgement day is a comin’ folks, and God knows all. When what you have done hits you in His presence, I hope this young girl’s parents are able to watch.

I think that a substantial number of the Phelps clan are lawyers, aren't they? Their schtick is to sue towns, and individuals who interfere with their first amendment freedoms. That is how they support themselves.
By any stretch of the imagination can their cause be related to the rape/murder of a woman by a man. Are they saying God is punishing murder victims because we have gays in the US. Or are they just publicity addicts?

These people are complete nut cases. As a Christian, it really bothers me they call themselves a church. I would imagine most people understand they’re just crazy, but I still hate to hear them label themselves Christians.
Their protests don’t even make sense. What does this girl or soldiers have to do with homosexuality? What kind of person would find pleasure in someone’s grief, no matter what their orientation or beliefs?
I know they’re not real Christians, but their signs saying God hates gay people really anger me as well. Telling people God hates them isn’t the way the change a person’s heart.
Will they be picketing their own family members’ funerals? By their own logic, the Phelps family lives in the U.S., and is therefore culpable for all the ills of the nation.
Not in their state of dementia.
And, satan sent Phelps and his minions.
These people are worse than human debris.
Phelps is convinced that when he dies he's headed straight for paradise. I tend to agree with you that when that day comes he will be sadly disappointed.
Look folks, Phelps is an ATHEIST, anti-God, anti-church communist! This is his way of trying to hurt/destroy/smear God and church, and the way people are foolishly falling for it amazes me!
