US television ratings for this year's Oscars sunk to an all-time low, preliminary figures showed Monday, as viewers turned their back on a ceremony dominated by dark, bleak films.

According to figures from Nielsen Media Research, Sunday's three-hour-long ceremony at the Kodak Theatre averaged an audience of only 32 million viewers, the worst since records began in 1974.

Gee, I wonder why......

OSCAR winner Eva Orner has described the US Government as a “bunch of war criminals”.

The Australian filmmaker won an Academy Award for best feature documentary as co-producer of Taxi to the Dark Side, a film about the US Government’s use of torture in its war against terror.

I watched the dresses on FR.

I really didn’t want to see the actual show. I’m tired of nasty, ugly, movies, and didn’t want to hear any political humor about how Bush was evil and Obama and/or Hillary were god. I’m also darn sick of seeing all those Hollywood libs giving awards to one another for their hate America movies. Every year they nominate Clooney. If he wins, he call me names.

This year there was a film, about Americans torturing Iraqis, that won. Please. I’ll NEVER watch if that’s what’s winning.

I guess I’m not the only one.

This creep plays to her own sicko audience.
How predictable was this for a win? Another anti-military,
anti-America and pro-facist award.

I never had one inkling to watch this self aggrandizing
program.

Discovery had “Dirty Jobs”. Wow! Much more entertaining

How these Hollywood idiots can be so shallow, and yet memorize their lines is a thing to contemplate. I am not an actor, but I suspect that the craft entails some sort of linear thinking process...so why are most actors depraved and subliterate?

You are right—the great majority of American People don’t want dark, sex ridden, anti-American films. They want to be entertained. Hollywood needs to get back to making films that make people feel good. Where are the comedies? Where are the patriotic films? where are the religious films? Where are films that make America proud. Not all America is Michele Obama. We need conservative films as well as conservative politics.
Where are the new Marx Brothers, or Hope and Crosby, or Martin and Lewis? Can we laugh without sex shoved down our throats? Make good films, with good story lines and eople will watch. Give up the Liberal left wing preaching and get in the business of making dreams.

I proudly have no clue what the difference is between the Oscars, the Emmys, and the Academy Awards. All the same irrelevant, useless drivel to me.

Well, back when there were actually good actors and actresses, Spencer Tracy gave the game away:

''If you want to be an actor, all you really have to do is remember your lines and don't bump into the furniture.''

Heard Pelosi had emergency legislation passed at midnight the night before the show for all the statues to have ‘Jimmah Oscar’ put on the bottoms to remind all the winners of the Carter years and stagflation. LOL!!

Last time I watched was to see how they would honor Ronald Reagan after his death. Next time I watch will be to see how they honor Nancy. And then, all I want to watch is the tribute to the actors and film people who died the previous year and nothing else.

IIRC, last year’s Oscars had the worst ratings ever. This is not a good trend (for them).

That was interesting. I agreed with the worst dressed, but I didn’t like most of his best dressed at all.

I really liked many of the dresses this year - I love all the glorious old hollywood draping. But he obviously has a thing for fussy feathers on the bodice.

The movies are unwatchable, the Oscar shows are even worse. No one goes to their god-awful movies anymore. A few years ago the “stars” wanted extra security, as they felt the terrorists were going to get them. No way, I think they were ore afraid of their FANS getting them, or their FORMER fans.

The real torture is looking at, and listening to Eva Orner. She should be arrested and tried for that over here. Do you think the Aussies will deport her?

Stop The Press! Why would Americans not want to watch a bunch of self absorbed, junkie, narcissistic lecture us on what jerks we are, and how much they hate our great nation? F them is the way I feel about them. I go to the movies maybe twice a year. That is only if a woman or family member talked me in to it. I am tired of all the unoriginal crap. If its original, then it glorifies everything that is against the moral fabric of our country. F*!k Hollywood!

Oscars? . . . Oh yeah, isn’t that some kind of award show for those self-absorbed, self-aggrandizing fools who think the rest of the country gives a cr*p about what they think? They just have to look pretty and hit their lines. Meanwhile the rest of us with real jobs do things like hit errant satellites going 17,000 mph...

Sometimes it just seems so odd that pretending is a career. And then for the pretenders to take themselves so seriously is humorous.

The Aussies have become nuetered by global warming hysteria and environmental wackos. There is plenty of libs down there who fully support the crap this woman is putting on film.
Example: The greatest car rally on the planet, the Dakar rally, has now had to be moved from northern Africa because serious threats of a terrorist attack by the religion of peace.
The aussies wanted that race to be moved to Australia really bad, but the environmental wackos and liberals shutdown any chance of them being able to hold in there. A once a year race! So its now being held in Argentina.

The aussies are a great ally to the U.S. and have supported us greatly with the war on terror, but the country is loaded with america hating liberal moonbats as well like this foul woman who won that oscar last night.

Sounds like they need another big named movie like Titanic, American Beauty, etc. Hollywood was boring this year with their nominees. Of course FREEPERS hated JUNO a pro life movie...go figure. FREEPERS are never happy.

We are in the period of film that we were in the 60s and 70s. Not many new ideas... aka airport 78 79 etc. Not until Lucas came along and kicked it up to a new level. I dont think we need another star wars, but we need innovative story tellers.

I also believe movie theaters will look like empty vaudville theaters in 10 years if the industry does not do something to pull people ( like us, and gamers ) out of their houses. Kids dont date anymore ( why date when you can get your outcome and just hook up?0
