Tuesday afternoon special order speech by Rep. Rohrabacher is on C-Span now, and is worth checking Congressional Record transcript tomorrow
What a weenie post.
I was just watching him. Not sure what to think. A few years back, he was said to have some very dangerous ties with Muslim extremist front groups....and now today he goes on and on about wanting to interview Ramzi Yousef??
I dunno...why SHOULD he get to interview Ramzi Yousef?
Let me see if I’ve got this straight.
There are multiple MILLIONS of insane, brainwashed Mahometans that want to kill us and all our children, that want to detonate nuclear devices in American cities, that have killed over 3000 Americans in one day that SHOULD have lived in infamy, and the Congress is applying all of its considerably meager brain power trying to extract minutiae of Bush cabinet meetings and conducting “hearings” on use of steroids among professional athletes.
What a bunch of self-absorbed, narcissistic, STUPID JERKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Am I missing something?
In January 2004, Rohrabacher proposed giving Washington, D.C. residents the right to vote for congressional representation
Rohrabacher is a supporter of medicinal use of marijuana. He and Maurice Hinchey have jointly offered the Hinchey-Rohrabacher medical marijuana amendment
National Rifle Association A
Conservative Index-John Birch Society 80%
A mixed bag.
Over 350 Congressional Investigations have been launched. Not ONE ethic or criminal complaint has come out of any of them. It is NOT stonewalling when the Executive legitimate refuses to allow Congress to launch fishing expeditions into any manufactured hysteric PR myth Bush hating political bigots start screaming.
Best go read the US Constitution instead of wasting our time with this ignorant baseless drivel.
Rohrabacher is discussing 9-11 and many various related and possibly related matters. If you’re not not watching or listening to him, you’re certainly missing something. But you can read the speech tomorrow in Congressional Record.
Lately he's been sliding into the "maverick" categoy. Ugh.
He is a mixed bag alright. You might want to read this and google him.

Yikes, that's shocking.
Now I'm wondering if a member of Dana Rohrabacher's staff, the Congressman's District Director of Homeland Security, Dr. Fadi Essmaeel, is aware of those allegations you have posted that said in 2004, that Congressman Rohrabacher had
"...ties to radical Muslim groups and their foreign backers, and his outspoken efforts to champion their cause in Congress."
Dr. Essmaeel has been working for Congressman Rohrabacher for several years now. Those comments and allegations you sourced here would probably be a big surprise to Dr. Essmaeel. Maybe you should contact Dr. Essmaeel and tell him what you found.
Oh, also, here's Dr. Essmaeel's biography:
Fadi Essmaeel M.D. CEM
Dr. Essmaeel grew up in Jerusalem, where he was active in myriad community initiatives in the areas of conflict resolution, interfaith and human rights.
After completion of his medical studies he was recruited to mandatory five year service with the Israeli Medical Corps. As first responder and incident commander he participated in several historical landmarks including the Gulf war, the Israeli-Palestinian peace process and the ensuing waves of violence.
On August 1999 he was honorably discharged from the Medical Corps after six years of service during which he received the IDF Combat Service Citation.
After separation from service, he immigrated to the US. Due to his background, the US Department of State and the Immigration and Naturalization Service honored him with a National Interest Status, subsequent to which he became a Permanent Resident of the USA.
Dr. Essmaeel serves as Homeland Security Director for US Congressman Dana Rohrabacher. In this capacity he designs and directs educational programs pertaining to management of risk, emergencies and disasters, mainly CBRN-warfare and terrorism.
Trainees represent all government jurisdictions and a wide variety of private sector industries. As of this moment, more than 5000 course graduates have been trained in a broad range of relevant subject areas.
Central to his official duties, Dr. Essmaeel facilitates troubleshooting for emergency response providers and policymakers, and supervises case management for service members and veterans of US Armed Forces.
As a researcher, his main area of interest is the neuro-social determinants that underlie human behavior during conditions of risk, crisis, and emergency. He is particularly focused on potential significance of such determinants to policy making. He authored several papers and served as an instructor and course designer for several entities including National University.
Dr. Essmaeel holds professional certification as Emergency Manager (CEM) by the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM). He is a member of the Association for Scientific Study of Consciousness (ASSC), the Association of the Military Surgeons in the US (AMSUS) and the American society for Quality (ASQ).
Dr. Fadi Essmaeel Biography and Interview
Humm....Do I sense a bit of sarcasm?
I imagine he already knows about the article. It got wide coverage on the internet and radio from what I can tell. I just ran into the article today while ‘googling’.
I do like Ken Timmerman and am reading his book ‘Shadow Warriors’ right now. It is keeping me up into the wee hours of the morning and the book now looks like an accordion from all of the turned down pages.
Mixed bag — well, who among us did not feel admiration for and kindred spirit with the Afghans who stood up against the Soviet Union? Rohrabacher was in the Reagan administration then, and I do not begrudge him — not in the least -— the types of actions illuminated in this thread.
A few months ago, the Washington Times ran a story about the awards being given by Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation, which is chaired by Lee Edwards. Here’s how the article closed: “Mr. Rohrabacher was rewarded for his support for anti-communist movements from his days as a Reagan speechwriter and in his current position as a member of Congress. In the White House, he ‘agitated for policies that became the Reagan Doctrine’ against communism, Christopher Cox, chairman of the Security and Exchange Commission, wrote in a letter endorsing Mr. Rohrabacher’s selection for the award.
“Mr. Cox, who also served in the Reagan administration and later as a Republican congressman from New Jersey, recalled visitors to Mr. Rohrabacher’s White House office might include ‘an Afghan freedom fighter, a Nicaraguan Contra, or, perhaps, a defecting Russian comedian,’ a reference to Yakov Smirnoff, who made a career with Soviet jokes.
“Mr. Rohrabacher also likes to remember his role in saving Mr. Reagan’s ‘Evil Empire’ speech about the Soviet Union. However, Mr. Cox told a different version. Mr. Rohrabacher actually wanted to delete the words, ‘evil empire,’ but not because of some diplomatic protocol. Mr. Cox said Mr. Rohrabacher wanted to replace that phrase with ‘filthy commie scum.’”
I give him enough presumption to, after hearing the end of his speech on C-Span this afternoon, want to read the full story in the Congressional Record tomorrow.
Email me when you get the CR please. I did not get a chance to watch the whole thing today. He has a record of being pretty good on some things and terrible on others.
Like I and others have said...a mixed bag. He also voted against the Patriot Act(along with Cynthia McKinney) He voted against against a resolution supporting Israel’s fight against Palestinian/Hamas terrorism.
Thanks for the ping.
