Clinton aide: She and Obama could be running mates
ASSOCIATED PRESS ^ | 2-26-08

Posted on 02/26/2008 3:20:32 PM PST by kingattax

MADISON, Wis. — The national chairman of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s presidential campaign says she could end up on the same ticket with rival Barack Obama.

Terry McAuliffe told a business group in Madison on Tuesday it ‘‘sure is’’ possible the former first lady and the Illinois senator could become running mates.

He says that team would create excitement in the country heading into the general election. But McAuliffe would not predict who would be on top of the ticket.

The former chairman of the Democratic National Committee says Clinton has to do well in next week’s elections in Ohio and Texas to begin erasing Obama’s lead in delegates. If she does not, he says she will have to decide what to do about her campaign.

But McAuliffe would not predict who would be on top of the ticket.

Now, that is an interesting picture......

Hasn't Michelle Obama been making jokes about what would happen if Hillary was the VP?

I Know she told a few reporters joking around that she wants to be first lady, not first widow.

Yea, but I didn't think the balloon would go up so soon.

It'll never happen. McCain's Veep could recite Obama's criticisms of Madame Cankles verbatim should she attempt to wedge her fat ass onto the ticket.

I think he'll go conservative Dem white, maybe Evan Bayh, or *shudder* even Edwards.

Some comedian on TV said last week, “I wouldn’t want to be the first black president of the US. He will be assinated within a week.”

Especially with Hillary as VP.

I’ve been predicting this. If he wins the nomination, then they spin it as a sign that he is a unifier and able to reach out to opponents. If she wins, they spin it as the face of change in Washington as opposed to the “old Washington insider white dude the Pubbies have.”

If Obama is dumb enough to select Hitlery as Veep, he deserves what he gets. The Clintons will be the Obama’s best friends for a while and will be horrified when he takes his own life in Fort Marcy park. Luckily Maggie Williams will be there to help Michelle go through his things.

I could see Hillary picking Obama to be her running mate, if she can manage to still win the nomination. He could help her in the general election.

But I can’t see Obama wanting Hillary as his running mate. She would weigh down the ticket with all the Clinton baggage and her negativity, without helping attract new voters.

Obama would be out of his mind to chose her as a running mate. She and her old man would suck all the oxygen out of the White House and his role as President would be diminished.

I’ve said this before- this makes sense from Hillary’s point of view. If she’s VP to Obama she’ll be back in the White House back rooms running everything as before, while Obama faces the press, takes trips, makes inspirational speeches, and golfs. Then after eight years, Hillary runs for the top slot having had real experience, and after “reforming” the press and especially new media.

Note that I distinguish a "conservative Dem" lower-case from true Conservatives.

The only thing different about "conservative Dem"s from their Socialist brethren, is that maybe they don't like PBA's, maybe they don't like single-payer state-run anti-health, and maybe they're slightly more 2A than the lunatics that run the DUm party. (Until now -- I find it interesting to see what Axelrod actually does with all this power he's about to capture.)

I find them to be the useful not-quite-idiots that have helped our Conservatives block the absurd Code Pink-dictated "Abandon Our Troops!" bs over the past two years, the aforesaid treason having reduced Dingy and Peloski's approval rating to, oh, what is it now, 11%?

That's a good analysis but I don't see any upside to Obama as VP; he'd be saddled with the Clinton sleaze and would be playing second fiddle to both Clinton's. Keeping x-42 from the cameras would be a full time job and Obama would be relegated to the basement.

Nor can I see Clinton running as his VP as she'd retain more status as a Senator as more of a free agent.

If she loses, I'd expect her to eventually quit the Senate where she'd always be the junior senator from NY and go on the rubber chicken circuit. Big, big bucks there.

Surely both HRC and BHO know they are seen as liberal by many voters-and wouldn’t both, therefore, want to balance out the ticket with (e.g) a boring white male moderate? If they ‘double up’ only the left/liberal voters will vote for them; either one would have those votes tied up already, so surely either one would prefer a moderate/centrist running mate.

I'd like to see Michelle get belligerent with Hussein about throwing Hillary out of the Veep office in front of her. Algore would buy the first ticket to see that.

Here’s my prediction: Surely HRC will not stoop to the VP slot. Besides, she’ll be 68 by the time Obama’s second term is over. She’s preparing Dems for her Super Delegate coup but will put Obama at the bottom of her ticket to smooth things over. It’s her turn, after all, and Obama will still be a young man right years from now.

Obama won’t want her as his Veep.

By the time this is all over, Hillary will have burned so many bridges, and insulted so many people that she will be completely done in all but New York. And maybe there, too.

I’m waiting for her to have a complete, on-air melt-down. The kind you cannot recover from.
