GOP banks on McCain to lure Hispanic vote
The Washington Times ^ | 27 Feb 2008 | Stephen Dinan

Posted on 02/27/2008 7:24:26 AM PST by BGHater

Two years ago, Republicans fought over immigration and hemorrhaged Hispanic voters. Now they are poised to nominate the one man who can rebuild the Hispanic voter coalition that pushed President Bush twice to victory, the architects of that coalition say.

"I think the only candidate that Republicans have running for president who could retain those votes is in fact Senator McCain," said the Rev. Luis Cortes Jr., president of Esperanza USA, founder of the National Hispanic Prayer Breakfast and a key player in helping Mr. Bush connect with Hispanic voters during his two runs for office.

Democrats have traditionally enjoyed a strong advantage among Hispanic voters, though Mr. Bush changed all that, gaining 35 percent in 2000 and as much as 44 percent in 2004. Two years later, however, Republicans' support among Hispanics collapsed under the weight of the immigration debate, falling to 30 percent for Republican congressional candidates.

But by fighting his own party on immigration and by having ties to Hispanic leaders, Sen. John McCain emerged as the lone GOP presidential candidate capable of competing with Democrats for Hispanic votes.

"Without a doubt," said Lionel Sosa, a media strategist who was instrumental in Mr. Bush's two wins. "All of us are waiting in the wings, we're waiting for the call. We're waiting to serve."

Pollster John Zogby said the Republican Party has been "hemorrhaging, as far as Hispanics are concerned." But he said the Arizona senator has a broad appeal that can reverse that among Hispanics, who he said are open to his "maverick" image.

"It's not simply immigration. The election is won in the middle this year, and he has great appeal to independents and to moderates, and that's on the basis of authenticity, character," Mr. Zogby said.

Time for a new party and Hispanics probably don’t want him
either. Who wants a nasty old s.o.b. who can’t be relied on to do anything but suck up to the nearest presstitue.

The new immigrants sold their souls to the Dems and successful second and third generation ones are either real Republicans or unreconstructed Dems.

The dirty little secret is that Hispanics, generally speaking, will not be voting for Obama. They may not vote for McCain, but the certainly will not vote for Obama.

Among liberals, in the quest for preferred treatment and government benefits, the politics of race is most obvious in the black vs hispanic divide. Both see themselves as first in line at the plantation of the Democrats and they will NOT vote for the other group.

That is a cold, hard fact that the MSM will be loath to discover, much less report.

Senator Hussein will get at least 75 percent of the Hispanic vote, and maybe more with Richardson. How much the Hispanic vote will matter depends on how the old red state, blue state lines begin to crumble, especially out west. Florida may bolster McCain’s numbers with Hispanics, especially with his hardline towards Cuba, but even with Florida, McCain will lose. Of course, if McCain doesn’t get Hillary or Lieberman as his VP, there is no reason why he shouldn’t go for Richardson or some other leftist Hispanic who will have a broad appeal with Hispanic voters. He could promise to open the border, and sell US citizenship at five bucks a whack through convenient vending machines. Whatever it takes to get elected, but McCain will still lose.

Just over 40%? Come on, you aren't losing confidence in your shamnesty candidate are you? Where's that open borders spirit you always display as a bushbot? I thought the Florida primary was Juan's litmus test with people who really don't want to be American, but just use our system to suck the legitimate citizenry taxpayer money from. Don't tell me Obama is offering a better deal to illegals...what will Juan do???

In 20, maybe 32, years there will be two parties - the Democrats, and the Partidad de la Raza, a spin-off of the Democrats after Hispanics reached 40% of the population and realized they didn’t need pandering Democrats; they could get control of power themselves.

The Republicans will have faded into history, like the Whigs.

We will be like Argentina, or France, where socialist parties who pretty much agree on things fight over who is in charge of the spoils and corruption.

America will be like Britain, with a faded empire and memories of grandeur, but subservient to China economically, militarily, and educationally.

There will be a wealthy class, no middle class, and a big lower class.

Take lots of pictures today. They will be quite useful to archaeologists centuries later who would like to know what America’s ruins looked like in their original state, like the Parthenon or the Roman Colloseum.

It's a pity the GOP isn't as concerned about the conservative vote.

RINO McCain made it clear yesterday where he thinks conservatives are in the scope of things.

Here's a guy who throws the F word around left and right when arguing with folks in his own party, but he has too much "class" to use Obama's middle name.

What does he think the rats would do if his middle name was Adolf?

However hispanics should be attracted to the broader Republican values of national security, strong economy and family values.

WRONG. McCain appeals to moderates because of their intrinsic gutlessness in the face of deciding upon absolutes. Other than the WOT, he stands for nothing that requires hard work, personal sacrifice, or responsibility, and that makes them feel all warm and fuzzy.

Bush did better than Republicans usually do among Hispanics because he’s from Texas and because he pandered to them. But the thing to remember is, he still lost the Hispanic vote. He even lost it to Kerry, a patrician blue blood from Beacon Hill who probably never saw a Mexican until he started campaigning for president.

But here’s the important thing to remember. If the only way to get 40% of the Hispanic vote, as opposed to 30%, is to support amnesty, then it’s suicide to worry about getting that extra ten points. It would better to get 30% of the current Hispanic vote than to get 40% of a much larger post-amnesty Hispanic vote.

Also, we need to remember that the Hispanics currently entering the country illegally are overwhelmingly Democrat. They aren’t just 60-40 Democrat or even 70-30 Democrat. They’ll be more like 85-15 Democrat once they’re given the vote. The current GOP support among Hispanics comes primarily from Cubans and from white Hispanics in the southwest whose ancestry in America goes back several generations. The ones flooding in now, and who would be given amnesty, are Mestizos who vote for Marxist parties like Mexico’s revolutionary party or for candidates like Ortega or Chavez in other Latin nations.

You’re right. One needs only to look at the Democrat Party in California and how monolithically Marxist it’s become since the Hispanic population has grown there. California always had Marxist ‘Rats around the Bay Area but now they’re everywhere in the state.

The earlier post on this thread was probably correct. Thirty years from now the GOP will be a marginalized afterthought, if it even still exists. The main parties will be the Democrats and the Marxists. They won’t differ much on the issues but will argue over who gets the spoils plundered from the remaining productive people in our nation, and they’ll fight over gender, race, and “sexual orientation” representation. In other words, this year’s Democrat primary is the model for the general elections of the future.

China will sit back and watch and laugh. And they’ll guard their borders to prevent a similar disaster from occurring in their nation.

Mexican President Felipe Calderon, who has has publicly stated his concern for the "growing harassment" and "frank persecution" of Mexicans in the United States, will make his first official visit to California Wednesday and will meet with immigrant leaders among others. Speaking to the Mexican government's migrant assistance agency in November, his comments about "persecution" appear to have been aimed at U.S. presidential candidates who voiced their desire to curb illegal immigration. He also expressed disappointment at Congress' inability to agree on an immigration reform measure. While in the Golden State, he will address the state Legislature and attend a private lunch meeting with Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez, and other officials. According to George Grayson, a government professor at the College of William and Mary in Virginia who specializes in Mexico, Calderon also is coming to the United States to apply political pressure on U.S. lawmakers. ---SNIP--Calderon wants his 1.4 billion in US taxpayer loot - no questions asked. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1969534/posts

Under the plan, illegal aliens who can prove they have jobs, pay a fine, and pass a criminal background heck will receive the gift of legal status for 5 years. The plan is designed to attract pro-business Republicans and those who backed the McCain-Kennedy amnesty bill by also increasing the number of visas issued for technical, temporary and agricultural workers."........(Excerpt) Read more at numbersusa.com http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1972338/posts

MEMO TO McCAIN: If you wanna win, baby, you better tell the hyphenate crowd to get lost.....and that includes Mexican loyalist Juan Hernandez.

McCain's got a strange group around him---BUT McC says he won't "pander" to so/cons to get this important constituency behind his candidacy. According to McQueeg, it's called "pandering" only when applied to conservatives.

McC has no problem pandering to illegals McCain chose a dual-loyalty traitor to be his "Hispanic Outreach Director." Talk about pandering-----McCain said he chose Hernandez because he agrees with his positions.

Juan Hernandez was born in Dallas and decided as an adult to become a dual-national Mexican citizen. His last verifiable job was serving in Mexican President Vicente Fox's cabinet as Fox's "American Reconquista Director." Hernandez then worked for Bush hater George Soros' international foundations---(one such foundation published Hernendez's book that taunts Americans).

Hernandez believes all illegal Mexicans and Mexican-Americans in the USA should become dual citizens and consider themselves Mexicans first, "to the 8th generation." The "New American Pioneers" proclaimed in his book are the illegal alien invaders he urges to become settlers in the USA for "Reconquista"---the plan to take back the SW.

===================================

Another group switch-hitting to McCain is Billy Kristol (Fox pundit) his daddy, and their crowd.

The Kristols are cheerleaders for the current admin's most destructive polices---including the twice-failed illegals amnesty plan.

The Kristols are also the architects of Giuliani's failed strategy to religiously cleanse the Repub party and kick conservatievs to the curb. They switched to McCain when their boy Giuliani tanked like a deadweight going down a 300 ft cistern.

my, my,
when you read all this stuff you realise how the GOP and DNC have been setting up the people of America and have created this artificial race with 3 losers for prez. I guess the amnesty showdown was only a show, now they show their real colours. Obviously they were never going to allow a true border-defender to get the GOP nomination. So much for the electorate and all that. We don't even have to start talking about the DEM candidates.
