Maybe we need to change it from Bush Derangement Syndrome to simply American Derangement Syndrome:
The hot fashion accessory [at Sundays Oscar ceremony] was apparently orange ribbons and bracelets in solidarity with terrorist suspects in Guantanamo:
Out on the red carpet, Paul Haggis (the director whose Crash won Best Picture in 2006) said he didnt know what accounts for all these deeply dark, brooding, troubled films. But isnt it obvious, he asked, flashing an orange ribbon on his lapel. Orange, why orange? Its Guantanamo, his Max Azria-clad wife, Deborah, said, showing off her orange bracelet, which read: Silence + torture = complicity. Suddenly, we noticed orange ribbons and bracelets everywhere.
Youd have to guess there werent too many 24″ fans in that gathering.
The Hollywood Liberal wouldnt be caught dead wearing a red, white, and blue ribbon, which makes one wonder why they had our troops in Iraq present an Oscar the other night when their hearts are really with those poor sexist, racist, homophobic, theocrats who wear orange jumpsuits.
Plus, we dont torture. And dont call waterboarding torture when we do it to our own Navy SEALS during training.
Am I alone in thinking its reasonable to call into question the patriotism of those who intentionally lie about their country to make it look bad? When people strut around bleeding their hearts over our enemies who are not tortured, but are in fact treated so well Michael Moore wishes we had their healthcare Im gonna go out on a limb thinking they may not like America.
Maybe Ill come up with my own little fey bracelet: Lies + Solidarity With Terrorists = Anti-American Enabler of Evil.
Anyway, theyre factually incorrect: Torture + Silence doesnt equal complicity, it equals the need for more torture to get those monsters to talk.
UPDATE: WELCOME: Fellow Hot Air fans (and many thanks for the link). Hope youll take a look around. We do movie reviews every week and update constantly in the vain effort to keep up with Hollywood stupidity.

The Al Qaeda ribbon.
Ribbons and rubber bracelets are two of the most annoying things in existence.
Good illustration at how far these people are out of touch with reality....glad to see the Oscar viewership was at an all time low.....
I never question their patriotism — all my questions were answered long ago.
along with H! & Bubba............
No more money to these creeps. Seriously.
It is so ironic that these Hollywood morons would be on the side of those who would chop their heads off in a nano second. These dirt bags are immoral by Western standards. Could you imagine who they are looked up in the world of Islam? They should thank their lucky stars they live in a country where disparaging the country and being immoral isn’t punishable by death.
I want a blue ribbon to counteract it. And we can write “GitMo” on the top of the ribbon, and “DUNK ‘EM” on the (2) bottoms.
But that's already happening. Look at the releases of preachy leftist movies lately, Rendition, Redacted, and the others... completely TANKED at the box office. They also got largely ignored even by the oscars.
We're not the only ones laughing at them.
Just in case you want to tell him how you feel. Here is his Email addy.

Shows how stupid Hollywood is
They will be next inline with the homosexuals when the muslims take vengeance
Heh. And these idiots wonder why the Oscar ratings get lower each year.
this crowd certainly does have a love affair with ribbons and saving the world music doesn’t it? Silly is as silly does. They are so phony it’s not funny. It’s all about them and the more outrageous they can get the more attention they can get. Grownups all trying to remain forever young in their botox worlds. Better them than me.

I like "'BOARD 'EM 'til they talk!" even better.
LOL, great idea.
Good bumpersticker.
Too long for a ribbon, though.
BOYCOTT Hollywood
“Ribbons and rubber bracelets are two of the most annoying things in existence.”
I fail to see why anybody should be annoyed by either.

Any whacked out pseudo Follywood type wearing this Al Qaeda ribbon should be shunned by all who love America.
Barack Hussein Obama's wife probably wears these ribbons when not in public.
tried to send e-mail but it got sent back to me. Has anyone had any luck in getting e-mail through to this jerk?
According to Wikepedia Paul Haggis is a Canadian Scientologist.
solidarity with terrorist suspects in Guantanamo ?
Great : This fool should move to Cuba and stay there .

It’s not so much the physical ribbon so much as the morally superior, do-nothing, “raise awareness without spending a dime of my own”, smarminess of them. I don’t care what the “cause”, I’m not wearing some stupid ribbon or chincy rubber bracelet. If a person has a cause they believe in, they should do something about it. Wearing a trendy fashion accessory will change nothing. It’s all about attention to the wearer, not the “cause”.
What's truly sad is that John McCain's plans for Gitmo all but ensure that he should be wearing one of those orange ribbons and bracelets as well. Remember that he fully intends to close Guantanamo Bay, give the terrorists there the same rights as American citizens, and deny our interrogators the very tools that make terrorists crack.
So yes...we should flame these Hollyweird types for their love of terrorists. And we should really hold McCain's feet to the fire on this very subject between now and November!
Haggis . Isn’t that some disgusting dish that uses sheep entrails as its main ingredient?

OR the orange jumpsuit the victims were made to wear.
Defund the Left. Boycott Hollywood.

Fortunately, not all of us are wacked-out, liberal moonbats:

I've never questioned it either.
Nothing there to question.
Obama has said he won’t wear a flag pin on his lapel but he has shown that he will honor foreign nations while abroad.

Waterboard Hollywood.
It's art. I call it "Piss Oscar" and I want a grant.
Ignornant and ungreatfull little bastards. I’m glad that my father and his brothers aren’t alive to see this. It would break their hearts. A far cry from the “Hollywood Canteen” they visited during WWII.
Its the message the wearer is trying to convey. I am better than you. I care more than you. Gaze upon my caring and compassion.

What did Paltrow do? I remember vaguely some comment that Europeans were more sophisticated than Americans or something.
They have a rich back catalog that keeps them solvent even when their current product is avoided.
All earlier creators saw their works eventually go into the public domain. Copyright is supposed to be finite. 125 years appproaches infinite as it exceeds everyone's lifetime.
Interesting. I didn’t know that copyright could be “renewed” that long.
Years ago I use to attend award shows (not the Oscars) because of work and I remember at one show, when going through the door to take my seat, some girl was handing out red ribbons. I told her, “No thanks.” and she tried to shove it at me and I told her again that I didn’t want it. You’d think the world had come to an end by the look on her face. She was pi**ed! I loved it. There was one soap actress years ago who refused to wear the red ribbon and it was all over the trades that she had refused to put it on. The actress is a b*tch but I had to applaud her for her stance on this.
