Seattle drivers, what do you make of this?
The billboard, which faces south from the corner of Western Avenue and Denny Way, states that it was funded by something called "Concerned Citizens for a Better America."
You won't find the group's name on Google, except in a wayward comment thread or two. The group is not registered as a Political Action Committee or with the Washington Secretary of State's corporation division. Nor does it have to be -- based on this billboard, anyway -- because its message neither mentions a candidate by name nor appears too close to election time.
Democratic consultant Frank Greer said he "had no idea" who "Concerned Citizens For A Better America" might be, but he's surprised any group would use a billboard to spread a political message.
"Candidates do not use billboards and they're rarely used in politics," Greer said. "I do not know of a campaign, in my professional experience, where billboards have been effective."
The exception, he said, is when a billboard is used to create buzz that leads to another campaign. Still, the Western and Denny billboard left him puzzled.
"It seems to be somebody who wants to begin a conversation or a dynamic or ask questions about America's response to 9/11," he said. "The thing about it is, we know the one candidate that relied on 9/11 -- Rudy Giuliani -- never made it past the first primary...

Horrors!
Have you seen any of these in your town?
Very good point to remember.
It could be just a bunch of concerned citizens who want a better America. I know I’m going out on a limb here, but...
No, but I want to.
Pro- or anti- WOT?
What an idiot.
“When you vote, remember we’ve already fought socialism for the better part of a century.”
And Thank You, John McCain, for McCain-Feingold. Without this sterling piece of legislation, we'd be subjected to these hateful ads in October and November of election years.
Sounds like a Rudy supporter who bought the billboard before Mayor Greasy dropped out of the race.
“Candidates do not use billboards and they’re rarely used in politics,” Greer said. “I do not know of a campaign, in my professional experience, where billboards have been effective.”
______
What an idiot. Campaign consultants are people who can’t make it in advertising.
It is nearly impossible to “measure” the effectiveness of outdoor advertising, but that doesn’t not mean it isn’t effective. Billboards deliver a concise message a broad range of people...if a person can read and rides in a car, good billboards work.
If I wanted to make a brief political statement, billboards would be very effective.
On the serious side if this were closer to the election could this violate McCain-Feingold? I know it doesn't endorse a specific candidate but...?
The statements by that DNC mouth breeder are sure telling.
Just wait until close to the election: Every time a newscaster mentions McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance "Reform", the opponent will scream for equal time!
Prediction: 2 days until it is defaced by graffitti.
OBTW - The billboard will be ILLEGAL in September, according to the
MCCAIN / FEINGOLD
abrogation of the First Amendment.
Who would use a billboard to spread their message???
COCA-COLA comes to mind and it’s worked out pretty good for them. McDonald’s too... Jeez, I guess using Billboards isn’t all that bad of an idea afterall. LOL
(Well, if it also said “Vote McCain” it sure would be)
The welfare recipients do...
When you vote, remember 9/11 and don’t vote for Obama!
I live in Seattle, but this is not on my commute. What really makes me scratch my head is that our caucus’s were weeks ago, and our primary was a week ago. Very wierd.
Also, a billboard like this in Seattle is a waste of breath ... they vote for Baghdad Jim as thier congressman for cryin out loud. This billboard in Bellevue ... heck, anywhere outside Seattle city limits, would have been a lot more effective.
"It seems to be somebody who wants to begin a conversation or a dynamic or ask questions about America's response to 9/11," he said. "The thing about it is, we know the one candidate that relied on 9/11 -- Rudy Giuliani -- never made it past the first primary.
The Dems/Marxists are trying to "wish away" the war on terror. To them, their hysterical quest for a global Utopian collective means more than defending our freedoms and way of life.
My guess is that the group is related to Common Sense Issues, the PAC that has been manipulating the conservative vote around the country, without supporting any one candidate, but is related to McCain, since it is funded by his friend, Carl Lindner.
Or an anti-Obama group.
I think its genius. Especially with the other thread about Obama planning to disarm America, we need to remember 9/11 more than ever...
Maybe CLEAR CHANNEL did the billboard....???
The rest of the nation took about a year.
NEVER FORGET! and NOTHING WILL EVER BE THE SAME! became, WHATEVER HAPPENED WE DESERVED IT and all things BAD are BUSH's FAULT!!
From the article:
“Whoever did it chose the location carefully — ‘cause it was next to you,” he said, referring to the P-I.”
Now that’s just funny!
“Democratic consultant Frank Greer said he “had no idea” who “Concerned Citizens For A Better America” might be,”
Why am I not surprised that a Dem would not be able to identify with folks that want a better America instead of the socialist hellhole that the Dems pine for?
In addition, the author if this article sure seems to have her dander up!
Sounds like the mystery billboard that showed up north of Medford on I 5 a few years ago.

"WHAT'S THIS????!!! I DON'T RECALL GIVING MY PERMISSION FOR THIS!!!! WELL, DID I ????!!! DID I????!!!"
“When you vote, remember whether the muslims deserve dialogue, or a nice shiny glass surface on the entire Arabian peninsula.”
Haha, thanks, my laugh of the day.
As us insiders know, billboards can be very effective..
Being as this is Seattle, perhaps the sign should read:
“WHEN YOU VOTE, REMEMBER NOT TO USE THE SAME NAME TWICE”
I like the God one’s
Of course McCain-Feingold is prevalent in their minds.
Thank you, John McCain.
If you think it is hot here...(south Texas)
And God help us, we may just fight it on our soil.
Yeah, like that's going to work.
I bet most of the fine citizenry of Seattle blames 9/11 on President Bush (and not the previous 'Dereliction of Duty' President). Consequently this billboard will reinforce their natural tendencies to vote left.
Don’t forget McCain/Lieberman; 50 cent increase on gas to fight Goebbels Warming and force corporations to move because they can’t meet the ridiculous “Carbon Emissions” standards the new bill will enforce.
Oh, and Amnesty for 30 million new Democrats.........
Yup, McCain, America’s best choice to fight Obama......
No, it sounds like McCain’s friend, Carl Lindner and Common Sense Issues. That’s what they do, manipulate conservative vote. They just change their name from time to time.
they established that the USA at present is the dominant factor in stability and peace , especially to Europe, and that there is a strong current under way in the world money market ( EU included) to topple the US dollar with 9-11 as the tipping point.
they all seemed to think Obama would be the next president and that this would please the world initially ....but it could also trigger a furious flurry of dire "challenges" as his election would be seen by aggressive tyrants worldwide as a weakness to be taken advantage of.
These liberal proffessors also pointed out that the extreme hatred for America was entirely media driven worldwide and cited examples such as Abu Garaib and the fact that the hatred is almost entirely focused on attacking Bush , not on facts.
The professors had various opinions that all pointed in the direction of radical change coming that the election of Obama would trigger
Although 3 were thrilled at the idea of Obama as president, most agreed this change would be the downfall of the USA as economic and strategic leader, but a long (30 year) period of turmoil before China gets settled as dominant leader of the new world order.
Two predicted the decline of Western Culture (europe and usa),and cited examples such as cultural dilution by unchecked immigration, excessive debt and lack of production which according to the lessons of history "gives a feeling" that a radical shift is coming very soon.
the other two seemed to believe there would just be a reshuffle of power within US and EU, the coming depression would cause the US to be sold off piecmeal bit by bit to foreign investors and the USA would soon (within 30 years) be owned and occupied by different faces ( decline of the WASP)
