Catholic diocese officials say priest HIV positive
Brownsville Herald (Texas) ^ | 2/27/08 | n/a

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - Catholic diocese officials say a priest accused of sexually abusing minors is HIV positive.

After the Reverend Philip Magaldi recently told another priest that he has the disease that causes AIDS, the diocese alerted people who have lodged allegations against him.

The diocese in Fort Worth said it also notified parishes where Magaldi served.

Church officials say they believe Magaldi has been HIV positive since 2003.

He was removed as a priest in 1999 after sexual misconduct allegations arose in Rhode Island and Fort Worth.

Why was he not dismissed and jailed after the Rhode island incidents?

Or is this just another case of the hierarchy reshuffling their child-molesting priests?

Sad state of American Catholicism when merely telling the facts concerning a Abusive Priest is considered “catholic bashing”.

I think this is a tragedy for the Church and the Parishoners and their children, a priest should know better then that as should the Hierarchy.

Hey, how would you like it if this priest was in your parish? Would you not like to know if he was a danger to your children or those of other parishioners? Cheez.

They reshuffle them all. I think Cardinal Law might have gone to prison if he’d stayed here. That’s why he’s now in Rome.

Suffer the little children to come unto me .......

Law, Geoghan, the priest who co-created the North American Man Boy Love Association and all the others certainly made the little children suffer.

This is of course tragic. And it happens in Scouts, sports, schools, and other churches. Speaking as kin to someone molested by a now deceased Methodist ‘minister.’ Who can he sue?

The article says he was removed from the priesthood after the Rhode Island incident.

As for jailing him, that's a question for the D.A. The Church doesn't run any jails. :-0

Did the Bishop of this Diocese Resign?

Why are these Bishops not held responsible for the actions of their priest?

Why do you think there have been hundreds of millions of $$$ paid out in hush money and settlements? That’s just bishops using CHURCH money to keep their butts out of jail. It would be called embezzlement or misappropriation in any other context, but unfortunately, the actual legal title to the money belongs to the bishop—at least in some states. Imagine the president of any eeeevilll capitalistic corporation spending millions of the shareholders’ money to purchase freedom from jail for himself!

Why do you think most of the men who ARE bishops are bishops? Because they decided when they were young that they wanted power—and impunity.
