Only the headline is posted. You don't suppose the NYT is trying to make sure there is NO republican candidate, do you?

This story has been around before. One would think it was analyzed and dismissed at that point. But I guess not. This is the NYT. They can’t take a hint.

Huh? Lessee ... Don't know about McCain's mother, but I sorta, kinda recall McCain's father was Naval Academy, an admiral, etc. Presumably a U.S. citizen. What does the Canal Zone have to do with it?
Surely even the NYT isn't that addled.

The Constitution says, “No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of the President; neither shall any person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained the Age of thirty five years, and been fourteen Years a Resident withing the United States."
If the editors at the NYT could read, they would see he is eligible.

This is so pathetic. The NYT is going to wind-up looking like an anti-McCain smear rag to even the wishy-washy Moderates and Independents at the rate they are going.
Good to see them desperate so early. McCain leads while taking the smears - meanwhile Obama trails despite being treated like Jesus’ better by the MSM. Just wait until B. Hussein O. actually has to take some heat.
I think John McCain is going to be the 44th President, and that the Times knows it!

I think were watching the NYT commit ritual suicide. I think you are right! How could they keep going down this path as they lose reader after reader, ad after ad? You've hit on the only possible explanation!

To: Kay Ludlow
Wiki -
McCain was born on August 29, 1936, at the Coco Solo Air Base in the then-American-controlled Panama Canal Zone[2] to Navy officer John S. "Jack" McCain, Jr. (19111981) and Roberta (Wright) McCain (b. 1912).
To: Kay Ludlow
Folks, this is a non-starter: McCain was born to American citizens, thereby making him a citizen. He could have been born on the space station — it does not matter, as long as his parents were American citizens.
The Constitution, anyone?

His father and grandfather were both Admirals. I assume that means they were American citizens...Doesn’t matter where one is born if one’s parent/s is an American citizen.

If the NYT is so desperate that they keep recycling an old, debunked story, I guess they soon will just put out yesterday’s papers on the newsstands and not bother to print new news at all. Or maybe the problem is that they can’t afford to pay enough journalists so they will soon just copy and paste articles from the past for the next edition!

No, they are just beginning the death of a thousand cuts against McCain as they did Dole. Little bits and pieces will stick. One person will remember the influence peddling, another will remember he might be cheating to get in. By the time the election rolls around, McCain will be corrupt/stupid/ineligible in enough people’s minds to remove any chance he has of pulling a miracle and winning.
